About the job

You know that good leadership is about more than setting direction. It is also about creating coherence, helping people to succeed and translating ambitions into solutions that work in practice.

As head of the HR Partner Section in the Air Force, you will have the opportunity to do exactly that.

You will be responsible for a geographically dispersed section, with a broad portfolio of both staff and tasks. You will lead the daily task execution, develop the section and ensure a strong collaboration with the Air Command and the Air Force's authorities.

We are looking for you who thrive on delivering results through others and who want to put your mark on an HR organization in development.

About us

The HR Partner Section in the Air Force is part of the Personnel Command.

Our staff are present at all Air Force authorities across Denmark.

We are approximately 22 HR partners working with a wide range of the HR portfolio. From staffing, career and competence development, to personnel and organizational tasks.

We work closely with the operational reality in coordination with both the Air Command, the local authorities and our colleagues in the Personnel Command.

The Air Force is in development, and so are we. New tasks, new systems and an increased focus on staffing and competencies place demands on the way we work.

This means we have a daily life with many different tasks, but also opportunities to develop and shape how we support the Air Force.

About the position

You will have the overall managerial responsibility for the HR Partner Section, where

you will lead a group of engaged employees who work independently and closely with the authorities they support. Your task will be to create a common direction, ensure good framework for task execution and develop a section where professionalism, collaboration and well-being go hand in hand.

The employees come from different professional educational backgrounds and handle tasks within a broad HR portfolio. It requires that you can create an overview, prioritize and ensure coherence across the section, while also giving space for the employees’ professionalism and independence.

You also get a central role in the collaboration with the Air Command and the Air Force’s authorities. Here you will help translate the organization’s needs into concrete HR initiatives and ensure that we as a section both support the daily task execution and the continued development of the Air Force.

A significant part of your task will be the ongoing implementation and anchoring of BEKASYS – the Defense staffing and career system.

BEKASYS is a central tool in work with staffing, career and competence development. As section head you and your staff will help ensure that the system and the associated processes become a natural and value-adding part of our task execution.

It is not only about adopting a new system, but also about developing the way we work and collaborate across the Air Force and the Defense.

Your tasks will include, among others

  • Manage personnel leadership and support employees’ professional and personal development.
  • Ensure prioritization, coordination and quality in the section’s overall task execution.
  • Develop the collaboration with the Air Command, the Defense authorities and the other areas within the Personnel Command.
  • Support the implementation and anchoring of BEKASYS and the development of new processes in the staffing area.
  • Create coherence between daily operations, the organization’s needs and the section’s continued development.

Your permanent workplace is at Karup Air Base, but you should expect travel to the section’s other locations and to the Personnel Command in Ballerup.

About you

You do not necessarily need to come from a classic HR function,

the essential thing is that you want to lead people, can create an overview in a complex organization and understand the importance of good collaboration.

Your educational background could be academic or administrative, with continuing education or courses in leadership.

You are a clear and trust‑building leader who gives space for employees’ professionalism while taking responsibility for the common direction.

You thrive in navigating an organization with many different interests and needs and you are able to build good relationships across disciplines and organizational levels.

We imagine that you

  • Have leadership experience or clear leadership potential and are motivated to achieve results through others.
  • Have organizational understanding and can translate high-level priorities into concrete solutions.
  • Work systematically and can maintain an overview, even when tasks and frameworks change.
  • Are curious about development and willing to challenge existing ways of working when needed.
  • Communicate clearly and are able to build trust and followership among both staff and partners.

Knowledge of the Defense and the Air Force’s organization is an advantage, as is experience with HR, personnel leadership or organizational development.

We nevertheless place as much emphasis on your approach to leadership and your ability to achieve results together with others.

We offer

With us you get a position with a high degree of freedom under responsibility and the opportunity to influence both the development of the section and the way we support the Air Force.

You will be part of a strong professional community with engaged staff who every day work to create good solutions for the Air Force’s leaders and employees.

You will have broad contact and a central role in the collaboration between the Air Command, the Air Force’s authorities and the Personnel Command.

At the same time you will have the opportunity to lead a section where we must succeed both in daily task execution and in developing the way we work. Here BEKASYS and the new possibilities within staffing and career development will be an important part of our joint work.

We offer you a leadership space where you can bring your competencies into play, develop your staff and help shape the HR of the future in the Air Force.

Terms of employment

The position is advertised for both military and civil staff.

If you are an academic, you will be employed according to the current agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).

If you have an office education or another relevant education, you will be employed according to the current General Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations – The Public Sector (OAO-S general collective agreement) and the organizational agreement for office workers, laboratory staff and IT employees.

The workplace is at Karup Air Station.

As an employee under the Ministry of Defense, you are subject to certain special terms. You must be able to obtain a security clearance and maintain the clearance throughout the employment.
