About the job
Do you want to help make citizens' hopes and dreams come true?
Are you passionate about specialized pedagogical work, and would you like to be part of creating a daily life where citizens' wishes, hopes and dreams are the focus?
At SenhjerneskadeCenter Nord (SCN) we are looking for engaged educators who want to make a difference for adults with acquired brain injury while developing their professional skills in a strong multidisciplinary community.
We are entering an exciting period of professional development, where we will among other things work with LA2U, teaching in acquired and congenital brain injury, and the development of our communication forms. At the same time, we want to strengthen work with citizens' individual subgoals, so their hopes, dreams and wishes become clear and translated into meaningful actions in daily life.
We are therefore looking for colleagues who want to actively contribute to our shared professional development and to create the best possible conditions for citizens' well-being, quality of life and self-determination.
Who are we?
SCN is a residential facility in Frederikshavn for adults with moderate to very severe acquired brain injury. We are located on Anholtvej in scenic surroundings close to the town, the forest and the water.
SCN consists of two houses with common areas, physiotherapy and a lunch room. We also have our own activity program where citizens participate in various activities and events.
We are a multidisciplinary staff team including, among others, educators, nurses, social and health assistants, social and health helpers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and house assistants.
We see our different professional disciplines as a strength. We work closely together to create a coherent effort where pedagogy, care and health go hand in hand. We are a learning organization where professional sparring, reflection, feedback and supervision are a natural part of everyday life.
Your role – from hopes and dreams to concrete actions
As an educator at SCN, you will play a central role in creating alignment between citizens' wishes and dreams and the pedagogical efforts we plan.
We do not only want to start from what the citizens need help with, but also from what gives meaning to them and what they want to achieve in their lives.
You will therefore help to identify, articulate and make visible the citizens' hopes, dreams and wishes – even when they are difficult to express in words. It requires professional curiosity, knowledge of the individual citizen and a focus on both verbal and nonverbal communication.
An important part of your task will be to translate citizens' wishes into concrete and meaningful subgoals. You will help to formulate, document and follow up on the subgoals and ensure that they become an active part of daily life rather than just something we document.
We must together be able to notice the small progress, retain what works, and continuously adjust the effort when the citizen's needs or wishes change. You must be able to work independently in a professional team while also contributing to ensure that we use our different professional disciplines to qualify the effort.
We are looking for you who can see the person behind the brain injury, hold on to the citizen's perspective and help translate hope and dreams into action.
We strengthen our professional knowledge – and you become part of the development
In the coming period we will particularly focus on developing our shared professional foundation and strengthening the quality of the support for citizens.
We will, among other things, work with LA2U and offer teaching in both acquired brain injury and congenital brain injury. This should strengthen our knowledge of the brain injury's significance for each citizen's prerequisites, communication, behavior and opportunities for participation.
We will also develop our communication forms so that we become even better at understanding and supporting the individual citizen. This includes work with speech signs, visual systems and alternative and augmentative communication forms .
Communication is not only about words, but also about being able to express wishes, needs, feelings and opinions and about being understood. As an educator you will play an important role in being curious about the citizens' different ways of communicating and in developing, testing and using the communication forms that best support the individual citizen's needs and prerequisites.
We also work with neuroeducation, neuropsychology and a cognitive, resource-oriented and appreciative approach. We want to translate our professional knowledge into concrete actions that strengthen citizens' self-determination, participation and quality of life.
We do not expect you to know everything from the start. The most important thing is that you are keen to learn, ask questions, reflect on your practice and actively contribute to making new knowledge part of our everyday life.
Pedagogy, care and health go hand in hand
SCN is a specialized residential facility where pedagogical and health-professional efforts are closely integrated.
The work includes, among other things, personal care, transfers and health-professional tasks. You must therefore be prepared to take part in these tasks and to learn and carry out relevant health-professional tasks within the framework of your role and competence.
We offer a thorough introduction and onboarding with introductory shifts together with experienced colleagues, including training in relevant health-professional tasks.
We work purposefully with pedagogical target goals and documentation and use Cura. It is important that we document our observations and actions so that we can create continuity, follow citizens' development and qualify our joint work.
We are looking for you who …
- Are a trained educator and have an interest in working with adults with acquired brain injury.
- Have experience from the specialized social field or a desire to develop your competencies within the field.
- Have an interest in neuroeducation and neuropsychology and a desire for professional development.
- Want to actively participate in the work with LA2U and teaching in acquired brain injury and congenital brain injury.
- Have a desire to develop our communication forms, including speech signs, visual systems and alternative and augmentative communication forms.
- Can work purposefully with intervention goals and subgoals and have an eye for citizens' hopes, dreams and resources.
- Can work independently and at the same time contribute actively to the multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Have good communicative skills and can document and convey your professional skills constructively. Familiarity with Cura is an advantage.
- Can remain calm and maintain an overview in challenging situations.
- Meet citizens, relatives and colleagues with recognition, respect and decency.
- Can reflect on one’s own practice and both give and receive professional feedback.
- Are reliable, flexible and take co-responsibility for a good and developing work environment.
We offer you
- A meaningful workplace where you make a concrete difference for people with complex needs.
- A thorough introduction and onboarding together with experienced colleagues.
- An exciting period of professional development within LA2U, brain injury and communication.
