About the job

Would you like to lead an upper secondary school, a 10th-grade center and a language house? Are you present, listening and rooted? And can you keep course and spirit high, even when the framework moves? Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for.

You will become the top leader for Søndre Skole, Mariagerfjord 10th-grade center and Sproghuset, which are gathered in one organization with a common leadership. You will head a seasoned management team consisting of a vice-principal and a department head, and you set the framework and direction for the school and strengthen the coherence between the departments. You are responsible for the school’s economy and administration and set the strategic direction in collaboration with the school board, the leadership team and staff.

The students' voice is heard with us, and therefore the student council also has a wish for their new school leader:

”The student council wishes for a present and listening school leader who has a good sense of what moves among the young. In other words, a school leader we can talk to and who understands our world.”

Who are we?

Søndre Skole has about 465 students spread across 4-5 tracks from 7th grade and up, as well as Mariagerfjord’s 10th-grade center and Sproghuset. We have about 55 staff members distributed among teachers, pedagogues, TAPs and leadership. We work from the values of academic excellence, well-being, community, democracy and collaboration, and we have a diverse and inclusive youth environment where diversity is seen as a strength.

We have a strong academic profile with subject rooms in all subjects from 8th grade, sports and culture classes, a Junior Mastery apprenticeship line and a broad elective profile, and we are an Erasmus+-accredited school. The school lies close to the harbour, library and cultural offerings as part of the town’s youth area. And we place great emphasis on well-being: ’Go to school with a smile. Go home with a smile.’

Who are you?

  • You are present, accessible and visible and practice professional leadership close at hand.
  • You are listening, interested and inclusive in your leadership style – while at the same time creating momentum and making decisions.
  • You create pedagogical followership and translate political reforms – including the new EPX-education – into a meaningful pedagogical everyday life.
  • You have an eye for employees’ well-being and job satisfaction and support the professional learning community.
  • You are the unifying figure in relation to students, parents and staff and manage to create synergy between the departments.
  • You preferably have experience as a school leader, vice-principal or department head from a larger school.
  • You have strong financial insight into a school’s operations and understand how to navigate a political and administrative context.

Additional information

You will be employed by Mariagerfjord Municipality under the applicable collective agreement with a start date 1 January 2027. You can read more about the position and the municipality in the job and profile.
