About us

Hamarhus School is an internal school for placed children and young people from Hald Ege and Hamarhus Children and Youth Home. We are part of the Special Area for Children and Young People (SBU) under Region Midtjylland and are normed for 13 students. The school is operated by a dedicated staff team consisting of teachers, pedagogues and a department head.

Our target group is typically developing children and young people aged 7-16 who have mental and behavioral challenges and/or autism spectrum disorders. Teaching and educational interventions are planned individually based on each student’s needs and resources. We work with small classes and close pupil contact to create a safe, predictable and developmentally oriented everyday life.

We use pedagogical approaches such as NAU, Low Arousal and autism pedagogy and prioritise close collaboration between the school and residential units to ensure a holistic approach around the individual child or youth.

Your tasks

As a school pedagogue you will be an important part of the students’ school day and well-being. Your tasks will include:

• To support students’ participation in teaching both individually and in groups.
• To create structure, predictability and safe learning environments.
• To build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents and residential homes.
• To contribute to the work with students’ social, personal and academic development.
• To collaborate closely with teachers, pedagogues and other partners on a holistic approach.
• To document and follow up on students’ development through individual and action plans.
• To participate in meetings, supervision and professional sparring.

• Are a trained pedagogue.
• Have experience with or an interest in special pedagogy.
• Have knowledge of children and young people with autism, mental health challenges and behavioral difficulties.
• Work in an appreciative, structured and relationship-oriented manner.
• Are robust, calm and clear in your approach.
• Have good collaboration and communication skills.
• Contribute actively to the psychological safety in the team.
• Have insight into your own strengths and development areas as well as reflection on your own practice.
• Have a driving license.

You are curious and a good listener, and you have an eye for each child’s resources and development opportunities. At the same time you thrive in close collaboration with colleagues and partners and actively contribute to the community.

Practical information

The position is 37 hours per week with the workplace in Viborg.

Salary and employment terms are governed by the applicable collective agreement between SL and Danske Regioner.

Criminal record and child protection check will be obtained in connection with the employment.

The position is essentially full-time.
