About the job

We are looking for two engaged and professionally grounded wellbeing guides who will help strengthen the wellbeing, motivation and sense of belonging to school for children and young people.

Skoleportalen is a service for students in 5th-10th grade who experience distress, a lack of joy in school or concerning school attendance.

We know that school attendance rarely has a single cause. It can relate to social relationships, loneliness, academic demands, insecurity or other factors in the child’s life and daily school life. Therefore the effort requires a holistic view, where we not only focus on the child, but also on the adults and the contexts that matter for the child’s wellbeing and participation in school.

Your tasks

As a wellbeing guide you will play a central role in helping children and young people in distress and activating the adults around them.

Your tasks will include, among others, to

  • Identify and understand the conditions that affect the child’s wellbeing and schooling.
  • Involve the child’s perspective, experiences and wishes.
  • Activate and support the parents and the child’s network in their importance for the child’s wellbeing and development. Including facilitating group programs for parents and children.
  • Collaborate with the school to create better frameworks for the student’s participation and sense of belonging.
  • Help the adults around the child with finding joint solutions and actionable steps.
  • Create coherence and a common direction in the efforts around the young person. Including especially with a view to cross-disciplinary collaboration.

We are looking for someone who

  • Has a relevant pedagogical, social work or other relevant educational background.
  • Has experience with children and young people in distress and preferably with concerning school attendance.
  • Has an understanding of the interplay between the child, the family and the school.
  • Can create engagement and ownership among parents and professionals.
  • Has strong skills in conversations, guidance and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Works in an investigative, affirming and resource-oriented way.

We value

That you understand that children’s and young people’s wellbeing and schooling is not solely the child’s responsibility. You should be able to see the opportunities in working through the adults around the child and help parents and school find new ways to understand, meet and support the young person.

Skoleportalen’s goals

  • To strengthen children and young people’s wellbeing and joy of school.
  • To prevent and reduce concerning school attendance.
  • To strengthen adults’ opportunities to support the child’s schooling.
  • To create shared responsibility and coherence in the efforts around the young person.

We believe that lasting changes are created when the child is met with understanding, and the adults around the child take shared responsibility to create new opportunities.

Practical information

  • Salary according to the applicable collective agreement and the Ny Løn principles
  • A driving license is required
  • Workplace: Borgercenter Varde, Frisvadvej 35, 6800 Varde
