About the job

About Thorupgården and our organization

Thorupgården is a social-psychiatric residential facility in Nørrebro in the Copenhagen Municipality. We offer places pursuant to the Social Services Act sections 107 and 108.

In the coming years, the § 108 places will be phased out gradually, which means fewer care tasks and an increased focus on other social work interventions.

We are seeking a social-therapeutic contact person for Area 3, where both young and older residents with psychiatric challenges live, many with concurrent substance use.

Across the facility, we work in a recovery-oriented approach with a focus on wellbeing, development and support for everyday management. Tasks include relationship work, coordinating resident pathways and interprofessional collaboration with both internal and external partners.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team with both social and health professionals, where collaboration, professional reflection and shared responsibility are at the center.

Our professional approaches

We work rehabilitative and recovery-oriented with a trauma-informed approach (TBT), and have a focus on the residents' subjectively experienced quality of life during their stay at Thorupgården. The goal is to support the individual in living a more independent life and to help as many as possible move on to housing with less support and to be part of civil society. Therefore it is important that we are constantly updated on the latest knowledge and can adjust our interventions to the residents' life situation, zone of proximal development, needs and wishes.

We believe that developing our professional practice requires the courage to question what we usually do. Therefore we continuously explore how we can think about our task solving and organization differently, so everyday structures more strongly support the pedagogical work rather than setting the framework for it.

What a typical day can look like

As a contact person at Thorupgården you work closely with residents with complex psychological and social challenges. You support the individual resident's wellbeing, development and path towards greater independence through relationship work, coordination and professional interventions. At the same time you are able to maintain overview, balance care with clarity and navigate a daily life characterized by changing needs.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will be to

  • take on the contact person function for two-three residents with overall responsibility for their individual pathways, e.g. to prepare, follow up on and continuously adjust individual plans
  • provide daily social-pedagogical and practical support, e.g. for structure, finances and participation in activities – for some residents personal care may also be part of daily routines
  • support residents' recovery and development towards a more independent life
  • ensure correct and professionally qualified documentation, and continuously evaluate the interventions
  • coordinate and collaborate with relatives, authorities and external partners
  • actively contribute to daily operations, including medication management, activities and a well-functioning interdisciplinary collaboration.

We imagine that you

  • have a pedagogical education as a pedagogue, social-/special pedagogue or PAU
  • preferably have experience from social psychiatry or a comparable area
  • are professionally well-founded and actively contribute to the overall staff group
  • are curious about your own practice and open to ongoing reflection and evaluation
  • are motivated by working closely with residents on their wishes and dreams for a good life
  • thrive in a daily life with complexity and see it as an opportunity for professional development.

You are able to keep hope and a positive mood in daily life and can think creatively while keeping your professional expertise as the driving force of your work.

We offer

Thorupgården as an institution has a high level of ambition in its core task of the residential facility to the benefit of residents, staff and management. Therefore you will get

  • an academically/professionally ambitious environment with a focus on collaboration with residents, colleagues, management and the coordination team
  • a working environment characterized by curiosity, openness and good humor
  • ongoing supervision
  • professional development and courses e.g. NADA, TBT, LA2, medication management, recovery and rehabilitation, etc.

There is free parking in a locked basement and the possibility to train during working hours in a newly built training room.

Terms of employment

The position is a full-time position with start on January 1, 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter. Working hours are day and evening shifts with weekend duty every 3rd weekend. Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement for pedagogical staff and within the framework of local pay setting. The employment is conditional on a satisfactory criminal record check and references.
