Social Worker for Substance Abuse Treatment

Centre for Substance Use and Prevention is seeking a staff member for substance use treatment – trained pedagogue or social worker – for a permanent position of 37 hours per week with start as soon as possible or 1 December 2026.

About the Centre for Substance Use and Prevention

The Centre for Substance Use and Prevention is organizationally anchored in the Centre for Social Intervention in Holstebro Municipality. Here we provide outpatient substance use treatment for residents from Holstebro, Struer and Lemvig municipalities.

The target group is residents with a problematic use or dependence on substances and their relatives. We work from a holistic approach where the individual resident's goals, motivation and resources are central in the treatment process.

The staff group consists of about 25 employees with psychological, health, social and pedagogical backgrounds. We work closely together in a cross-disciplinary environment where professional sparring and collaboration are an important part of everyday life.

Responsibilities

You will join the centre’s overall treatment efforts and work with outpatient substance use treatment for citizens with different problems and life situations.

Your tasks will include

• conduct individual outpatient treatment courses
• plan and facilitate group treatment
• prepare treatment plans, clinical notes and intake briefs
• collaborate with internal and external partners
• contribute to teaching and professional dissemination to relatives and partners

We expect that you

• are trained as a social worker (minimum bachelor level)
• have an interest in the substance use field and preferably experience with treatment
• can work in a structured way and maintain an overview in a day with different tasks
• have good collaboration and communication skills
• can work independently and thrive in a cross-disciplinary environment
• can handle documentation and administrative tasks as a natural part of the treatment work

We would also like you to

• have further education in cognitive addiction treatment or related methods
• have experience from the addiction and/or psychiatry field
• have knowledge of dual-focus addiction treatment
• can balance empathetic involvement with professional expertise

Further information

Part of the work also takes place in our satellite functions in Struer and Thyholm, and you can therefore expect days of travel to these locations a few times per week.

Travel for work will therefore occur, and it is a requirement to have a driving license and access to your own car.
