About the job

Do you want to make a difference for psychologically vulnerable young people and their families – and help create coherence in some of their most vulnerable transitions?

Do you want to use your social work background and experience from the municipal authority sector to ensure good cross-sector transitions for young people and families in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Center (BUC)?

And are you also interested in working with admitted young people aged 13-17?

Then you might be the one we are looking for.

We are looking for a social worker for a maternity leave cover at our open day unit for youths, B103, with start date 1 January 2027.

Employment period

The position is a maternity leave cover with employment from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2027 .

The unit is geographically located at our campus on Bispebjerg, Bispebjerg Bakke 30, entrance 16C, ground floor.

About the unit

B103 is an open day unit with space for eight youths aged 13-17. The target group is youths in severe distress who are admitted for observation, assessment and treatment for psychiatric disorders such as mood disorders, psychoses, personality disorders, severe OCD, pervasive developmental disorders or ADHD.

The treatment is based on environmental-therapeutic principles and close family involvement. As a social worker you will play a crucial role in creating coherence between the psychiatric treatment and the youth’s life outside the hospital.

Your role

As a social worker you will be the unit’s specialist in social work and cross-sector collaboration. You contribute with your knowledge of social legislation and municipal interventions in daily work, at multidisciplinary conferences and through sparring and teaching of your colleagues.

You will work closely with a wide range of multidisciplinary colleagues, including doctors, psychologists, nurses, social workers, pedagogues, occupational therapists, social and health care assistants, physiotherapists and teachers.

At the same time you will become part of a strong monofag group of 40 social workers, where there are good opportunities for professional sparring, knowledge sharing and development.

Your tasks

Your tasks will include

  • Coordinating the collaboration with social administration, PPR (early detection and support), UU-guides and other relevant partners.
  • Coordinating the collaboration with 24-hour institutions and placement centers when the youth is placed.
  • Contributing to the preparation of notices and declarations to the social authorities in collaboration with doctors and psychologists.
  • Advising youths and parents on social-legal questions, rights and opportunities for support.
  • Contributing the social work perspective to multidisciplinary conferences.
  • Participating in and chairing or taking minutes at network meetings.
  • Having dialogue with municipal caseworkers to coordinate interventions around the youth.

You will have a wide range of tasks requiring you to move between close multidisciplinary collaboration and independent social work.

A typical day might include: in the morning contributing the social work perspective to a cross-disciplinary conference, subsequently holding a network meeting with the municipality and a placement institution, and later in the day preparing a notice or guiding a parent about the cooperation with the municipality.

Common to the tasks is that you draw on your experience from municipal authority work while building and applying your knowledge of child and adolescent psychiatry.

We offer

With us you will have an exciting and meaningful job, where you play a central role in creating coherence between the youth, the family, child and adolescent psychiatry and the municipality.

You will become part of a professionally strong environment, where the social worker’s perspective is valued, and where you have the opportunity to make a concrete difference for youths and families in complex life situations.

One of your upcoming social worker colleagues says

”The best thing about working as a social worker at BUC is the opportunity to help vulnerable families gain overview and navigate complex situations. At the same time you play an important role in coordinating a holistic and cross-disciplinary effort that promotes well-being and development. Through multidisciplinary collaboration there are good opportunities for professional development, and you constantly learn something new.”

  • Professional sparring and supervision with the center’s other social workers.
  • Close mono-disciplinary sparring during the introduction period and subsequently as needed.
  • A strong mono-disciplinary community with 40 social workers.
  • Close cross-disciplinary collaboration with engaged colleagues from many different professions.
  • Opportunity to develop your skills in both social work and child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • A 37-hour workweek with no evening or weekend work.

We expect that you

  • Are trained as a social worker or social facilitator (unnegotiable requirement).
  • Have practical experience with authority work in the child and youth sector.
  • Have good collaborative skills and thrive with both multidisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration.
  • Can communicate clearly and respectfully – both verbally and in writing.
  • Can work independently and take responsibility for your own tasks.
  • Have professional self-confidence and dare to actively bring your social work skills into play.
  • Are attuned to the needs of the youth, family and unit and at the same time proactive about where your social work can make a difference.

It is an advantage if you have experience from child and adolescent psychiatry and/or adult psychiatry, but not a requirement.
