Specialist in cardiology for heart diseases, Lillebaelt Hospital, Vejle

We are seeking a specialist physician in cardiology at Hjertesygdomme, Sygehus Lillebælt with main function at Vejle Hospital as of 1 December 2026 or by agreement. There may, by agreement, be an opportunity for external duties in Kolding.

The Department

Cardiology at Sygehus Lillebælt is consolidated in a single organizational unit with joint leadership and cardiology functions at the Emergency Hospital in Kolding and the Special Hospital in Vejle.

Hjertesygdomme, Sygehus Lillebælt has 220 staff members, of whom 25 are specialists. We have training physicians at all levels: pregraduate, KBU, introductory positions as well as HU programs, and education is highly prioritized and evaluated.

The cardiology patients are admitted directly to the cardiology wards around the clock according to the admission region. Hjertesygdomme has a total of 50 beds available with 5,500 hospitalizations and ambulatory activity of about 40,000 visits.

There is close collaboration between the two sites with a focus on operational leadership as well as professional and interprofessional teams across. To support the good cross-site collaboration and patient pathways, a shorter stay in the department in Kolding is agreed upon in connection with new hires.

The department's chief physicians and specialists jointly cover the cardiology tasks at both the main and regional function levels at both sites. The regional functions on the Vejle site include pacemaker implantation, cardiac MR, GUCH, and evaluation of hereditary heart diseases in formal collaboration with the Department of Clinical Genetics, Vejle and Odense University Hospital.

Evaluation of operable heart valve disease, primary diagnosis and treatment of uncomplicated endocarditis and investigations for suspected ischemic heart disease with cardiac CT are performed at both sites. Sygehus Lillebælt's AK-center is located in the cardiology department at Kolding Hospital with satellite function at Vejle Hospital.

The new management structure for chief physicians has been implemented with the appointment of leading chief physicians in department divisions with the head nurses in a management collaboration. Afsnitsledelserne participate together with the department management in the department's cross-disciplinary strategic leadership group.

The Position

We are seeking a specialist to join the department's chief physician and specialist team at Sygehus Lillebælt with main employment at the department's unit in Vejle.

The specialist should have particular interest and competence within one of cardiology's main areas and the role in the field will be prioritized. Training in one of the subspecialties is also an option.

The specialist is furthermore expected to participate in the department's clinical core tasks such as ward rounds, teaching and supervision as well as to undertake other organizational tasks as needed.

The specialist will join the cardiology on-call backup in Vejle. The on-call is a 12-shift on-call presence duty covered by consultants, specialists and main training physicians in cardiology. The duty is two-tiered.

Terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement (YL) for the position. The position is covered by the provisions on local wage formation.
