About the job
A position at Region Midtjylland with service at the Neurology, Aarhus University Hospital is available to fill on January 1, 2027 or by further agreement. The position as specialist physician (consultant) in Stroke and neurological rehabilitation is to be filled with a specialist in neurology who has primary interest and abilities in the core areas of Stroke and neurorehabilitation.
Neurology offers an engaged and professional multidisciplinary team, which supports one another in dialogue-based collaboration and development. Together with the other participants in the team you support teaching and research at a high international level.
Your colleagues and sparring partners in the other core areas in Neurology are all engaged and work in their field likewise to create good patient pathways, development and high-quality research. The department participates in education of physicians at Aarhus University and specialists in neurology in the Continuing Medical Education Region North. In the Stroke ward, which houses 22 beds, we handle acute evaluation of stroke and related disorders.
The Stroke day unit has year-round daily same-day evaluation of minor strokes and TIAs. Neurological rehabilitation comprises 10 beds, where patients in need of major function rehabilitation have their course.
A position linked to the core area Stroke is offered, but it is expected that applicants have an interest in the overall neurological area. Applicants must be able to document updated competencies regarding independent management of thrombolysis.
It is expected that the applicant has the desire and ability to actively contribute to the work of developing a university department – both internally at the hospital in collaboration with other departments, and with the development of neurology across Region Midt. Competence with respect to research, quality work and development will be prioritized. It is also expected that the applicant has an interest in and willingness to contribute to continued professional and organizational development of the department's offerings to patients together with the associated teams.
Applicants for the specialist physician position must have an interest in stroke and a willingness to learn neurovascular on-call duties encompassing triage and management of patient pathways in acute thrombectomy. Guidance regarding management of thrombolysis- and thrombectomy-treatment is an integral part of the position. After training, independent handling of the on-call duties is expected.
It is expected that specialists have activity within a minimum of two core clinical areas, of which stroke is one.
The specialist will, after training, join the department's neurovascular on-call team with a maximum 30-minute on-call. This concerns an on-site presence on duty with subsequent on-call from home all days of the week. The on-call roster is eight-shift.
For further description see the detailed description in the function description .
Salary and employment terms in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Employment is conditional on a satisfactory children's certificate and a satisfactory authorization.
Further information about the position can be obtained by contacting Chief Physician Trine Tandrup at phone 4074 9870 or Senior Consultant Marika Poulsen at email [email protected] .
Applicants' qualifications will be assessed based on the 7 physician roles. The form is completed via the application process.
The application including the form for assessment of medical competencies (the 7 physician roles) is sent together via "Apply" at the bottom.
The application deadline is 12 November 2026 and interviews are planned to be held on 20 November 2026.
The position is, as a rule, a full-time position.
As Region Midtjylland continually implements savings and reorganizations, employees in redeployment who apply for the position will have priority.
