Job

We are seeking a chief physician in spine surgery who wishes to help set the standard and framework for spine surgery at the Spine Center of Southern Denmark and contribute to the best patient care and development of the specialty. You will, together with the other spine surgeons and nursing staff, be involved in shaping the professional development in the department.

Spine Center of Southern Denmark is an elective specialist department in Sygehus Lillebælt with both spinal medicine and spine surgery specialties. The department handles assessment and treatment of spine patients in the entire Region of Southern Denmark and collaborates closely with other actors in the spine field in the region, including OUH and the region's radiology departments.

The department is open Monday-Friday with planned closure during larger holiday periods.

About you

We expect that you are a specialist in orthopedic surgery or neurosurgery with spine surgery as a documented area of interest. In addition, it is important that you:

• Naturally take responsibility for the professional direction and development of spine surgery – in close cooperation with the department's other spine surgeons
• Are a good team-player, proficient in broad collaboration both mono- and interprofessional, and able to maintain focus on achieving objectives and results
• Take co-responsibility for the department's operations within your area of responsibility
• Will supervise and teach colleagues and students from different professional groups

About Spine Center of Southern Denmark

The Spine Center of Southern Denmark's core task is, at specialist level, to assess as well as treat and, including guidance to the region's spine patients based on the individual's needs. The overarching goal is to improve the quality of life for spine patients.

Spine Center of Southern Denmark is a department with Spine Surgery and Spine Medicine specialties with about 150 employees. We are known for a high degree of patient satisfaction and receive spine patients from across the Region of Southern Denmark. Annually we receive about 17,000 new referrals and operate up to 900 patients.

We strive to continually become more skilled for the benefit of our patients. Therefore, research has a high priority in the department, with substantial research activity in both the spine medical and spine surgical areas. In addition, we have extensive educational activity across professional groups, where we help train our upcoming colleagues.

Qualifications

The application must be prepared in accordance with the Danish Health Authority's description of the seven medical roles and must include a copy with information about the authorization ID as a specialist and CV. Emphasis is placed on applicants addressing the seven competence areas concretely and to the widest possible extent document qualifications within these competencies. The professional assessment will be carried out in accordance with the Region of Southern Denmark's guidelines for professional assessment of applicants for consultant positions.

Salary and terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment for the position follow the Agreement for Consultants - 33.04.1. The position is initially 37 hours

Start date 1 March 2027 or by agreement
