About the job

A position as a specialist doctor with a focus on external ophthalmic surgery and orbital diseases is available to be filled on January 1, 2027, or by agreement.

We offer an exciting and challenging job in a high professional environment, where you have the opportunity to develop and contribute to a good patient pathway. You will join a large and inspiring specialist group, where you will be responsible for external ophthalmic surgery and orbital function in a well-functioning team. You will also oversee an additional subspecialty, depending on abilities, interests and the department's needs. Please indicate wishes and motivation for this in the application. Training will be organized where necessary.

The position is desired to be filled by a specialist in ophthalmology who has demonstrated professional background and surgical experience to manage the subspecialty, and who purposefully will continue to develop their competencies and contribute to the development of the field and the professional profile in eye diseases. You must be able and willing to take professional and organizational responsibility, in close collaboration with the team-lead specialist and with department management.

There is already a close and good collaboration between subspecialty teams in the department and with related specialties, including plastic surgery. This collaboration is preferably prioritized and further developed going forward. Supervision and training of younger doctors is a natural part of the task, as well as training and sparring with the department's training doctors.

Documented scientific experience is an advantage, and the application should include thoughts on how the applicant can contribute to the continued development of the clinical areas covered by the position.

Eye diseases is a university department with several highly specialized functions within the specialty, which places great emphasis on interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration within clinical practice, education and research.

We have an exciting daily life with a large flow of outpatient and surgical patients within all ophthalmic functions and are rapidly developing. We work strategically and focused to strengthen the field at the highest level both locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

The department has a high research activity led by the department's chair professor. Research takes place in widespread collaboration with other departments/institutions and with other national and international research networks.

Salary and employment terms in accordance with the collective agreement. The position is a full-time position, but with the possibility of buy-out for research. The employment is conditional on a satisfactory child-safety certificate (børneattest) and authorization.

Applicant qualifications will be assessed based on the seven medical roles that are completed as part of the electronic application process.

The job and function description can be downloaded here.

The application deadline is November 26, 2026, and interviews will be held in week 50.

Further information about the position can be obtained from Chief Physician Mette Slot Nielsen at telephone 5134 6602 or email [email protected] .

Questions about the application and the procedure can be directed to the Department Administration Secretary Kristine Hedegaard Jensen at 2388 2133 or email [email protected] .

The position is, as a rule, a full-time position.

As Region Midtjylland continuously implements savings and reorganizations, employees in redeployment who apply for the position will have priority.

Region Midtjylland is, in accordance with the EU pay transparency directive that came into force on June 7, 2026, obliged to inform you of the starting salary or a salary range for a position before offering employment.
