The A-team specializes in treating cancer of the brain, urinary tract and male genital organs.

This is an exciting opportunity for a committed and clinically strong oncologist who wishes to develop further in treatment of urological cancer as well as brain cancer to specialist level.

As a specialist in the A-team you will have the opportunity to develop in a high professional environment, and you will play a central role in the development of patient pathways and new treatment methods.

In the A-team one must be able to cover functions in the inpatient ward, in outpatient and in radiation oncology ward.

Your tasks will include

• Admissions, treatment and follow-up of patients within the A-team's areas.
• Participation in multidisciplinary conferences and contribute to ensuring optimal patient pathways and collaboration across disciplines.
• Opportunity to participate in research projects and protocolled studies
• Interdisciplinary collaboration internally and externally to develop innovative solutions and ensure highly specialized treatment.
• Contribute to a good working environment, where the focus is on delivering patient-centered care and ensuring the department functions optimally in daily clinical work.
• Contribute to optimized patient treatments with focus on the Health Reform.
• Teaching and supervision of younger doctors and interdisciplinary staff.

The department and your opportunities

Oncology Department R is a large, dynamic department with several highly specialized functions within clinical oncology. The department treats patients from across the Region of Southern Denmark and handles national functions for selected cancer types. You will work closely with a strong team of doctors, nurses and researchers and have ample opportunity to develop your professional skills in an environment that values clinical work, education and research highly.

Department in numbers

The department's total budget is about 500 million DKK, and the total staffing is 405 full-time positions. There are about 6,500 newly referred patients annually to the entire Oncology Department R.

There are currently 73 doctors employed. 1 chief physician, 1 research leader, 6 senior consultants, 5 professors, 19 consultants, 13 specialists and 32 trainee doctors.

Organisation

The department leadership consists of the chief physician, the chief nurse and the department's research leader. In addition to the research leader, the department has 2 medical professorships attached; gastrointestinal cancer and radiotherapy. In addition the department has a professor in cancer and family nursing and a professor in medical physics.

Department R is organized into 6 diagnosis-related teams

• H-team: Head and neck cancer, skin cancer including malignant melanoma, thyroid cancer.
• A-team: Urological cancer and CNS tumors.
• T-team: Lung cancer, pleural cancer, unknown primary cancer, radiotherapy of hematological diseases.
• M-team: Breast cancer.
• Q-team: Gynecological cancer.
• G-team: Gastrointestinal cancer.

The department is also linked to Clinic for Precision Medicine, Clinic for Late Effects, Immunotoxic Center and Palliative Unit.

• Values clinical work, development and research highly
• Has good communication skills and preferably experience with teaching and supervising younger doctors.

Employment terms

Salary and employment terms are in accordance with applicable collective agreement. The position is included in the department's duty roster with either back-up shifts or ward rounds on Saturdays and holidays.

The region is obliged to inform you of the starting salary for the position.

You will be informed of base salary, centrally set allowances and pension in the collective agreement for consultants - Agreement 33.04 or for subordinate doctors - Agreement 33.06.

In addition to the starting salary, the salary may include any negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experience and qualifications.
