About the job

Specialist with an interest in alloplastic surgery within knee and hip arthroplasty is sought for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Sønderjylland Hospital, Sønderborg.

The main workplace will be Sønderborg Hospital with function in the Alloplastics Sector and secondary workplace at Aabenraa Hospital in connection with on-call duties.

About the department

The orthopaedic department at Sønderjylland Hospital is spread over two campuses: Aabenraa, which handles all emergency surgery and trauma reception, and Sønderborg, where other sectors perform elective surgery within the areas of hand, shoulder/elbow, foot, sport and arthroplasty.

The Alloplasty Sector has a guaranteed function in the Region of Southern Denmark. In addition to primary knee- and hip-arthroplasties, the department has a larger production of revisions in both knee and hip arthroplasty.

The department handles the treatment of periprosthetic hip fractures and there is a well-functioning collaboration with the Trauma Sector, Aabenraa when multidisciplinary treatment is needed.

In the Alloplasty Sector there are currently 9 specialists employed. We are an exceptionally well-functioning sector, which prioritises professionalism, job satisfaction, respect for one another, and humor highly. In the orthopaedic department there are in total about 120 employees, of which 31 are specialists and about 19 doctors in training posts, about 42 nursing staff and 27 secretaries.

The department has attached a professor and a research-responsible chief physician, so there are many opportunities to initiate or continue started research projects. Both the department and Sønderjylland Hospital prioritise this very highly.

We expect

The applicant is expected to contribute with on-call work as a backup in Aabenraa and to be able to positively contribute to development, not least within the hospital's focal areas of professional quality and patient safety. The physician is expected to participate in teaching physicians in introductory and specialist training programs and thus contribute to the department's vision of well-being through professionalism.

We expect the physician to actively be a part of the sector; you will have a busy, exciting and professionally challenging daily life together with a fantastic team of enthusiastic colleagues. Finally, emphasis is placed on good collaboration skills.
