Social- and Health Care Assistant trainee – a meaningful education close to life

You have the chance to start the Social- and Health Care Assistant training.

You are trained as SSH and you start your training in week 13-2027 (under 25 at training start) or week 18-2027 (25 or older at training start).

Admission to the program

To get started with the training you must apply for this position to enter an apprenticeship agreement with Sønderborg Municipality.

You can be admitted to the program if you are trained as a social- and health helper.

As a social- and health care assistant trainee you are guaranteed an internship place and salary during the training.

• employment certificate from a previous employer in the field - within the last 4 years

The vocational education for a social- and health care assistant has the overall purpose that the student through school instruction and apprenticeship training gains knowledge and skills within:

• Professional holistic nursing
• Rehabilitation in collaboration with the citizen
• Interprofessional collaboration in the local, cohesive health system

A social- and health care assistant works, among other things, with the following tasks

• Citizen- and patient-oriented prevention, health promotion and rehabilitation
• Handle medication dispensing and administration
• Complex treatment courses in the citizen's own home
• Nursing assessment and action on changes in the citizen's own home
• Collaborate, advise and motivate through targeted communication with the citizen and relatives
• Coordination and teamwork around nursing and citizen care paths
• Document and relay professional information in writing and orally
• Principles of hygiene and breaking transmission paths.

There is also an opportunity to continue studying within the area, e.g., to become a physiotherapist, occupational therapist or nurse.

The theoretical part of the training takes place at

• Social- and Health School South in Aabenraa

The practical part of the training takes place in

• The local health care system, where the internship takes place in Sønderborg Municipality in care centers/home care
• Psychiatry where internships take place in the region or Sønderborg Municipality in social psychiatry/dementia/center for acquired brain injury
• The integrated health system, where you will intern both at a hospital and in Sønderborg Municipality.
