Staff with a folk high school spirit for the upcoming Højskolen Bøgildhus

In Assens Municipality we have a goal that our elderly citizens have a high quality of life with easy access to communities and activities. This also applies when one is struck by illness, such as dementia.

With Højskolen Bøgildhus we want to create an open and lively house for people with dementia and dementia-like challenges. At the same time, the house is a community for relatives, volunteers, neighbors and partners. The house is open during daytime, but there may also be activities in the evening hours, such as meetings for relatives and activities organized by evening schools or voluntary actors. There will also be activities on weekends. These are planned based on the wishes and needs we encounter among the participants and their families.

With us, the house is not just a place – it is a living community where people meet across ages, backgrounds and needs.

We are looking for dedicated colleagues who want to help create meaning for people with dementia, chronic illnesses, relatives, volunteers and all the others who contribute to life in the house every day.

About the house Højskolen Bøgildhus is part of the Civil Society, Prevention and Dementia department.

The house is located at Dærupvej 5 in Glamsbjerg in existing buildings with the Activity Center as the nearest neighbor. The newly renovated building section that will house Højskolen Bøgildhus, the Nursing Clinic in Glamsbjerg, as well as managers and employees from Civil Society, Prevention and Dementia, is expected to be ready for move-in in early April 2027.

The high school part will accommodate 3 teams with participants on high school days. The teams take their starting point from the target groups in the existing teams in day centers in Aarup, Flemløse and Verninge, who will move into separate group rooms when the house opens.

In addition, at Højskolen Bøgildhus you will be able to participate in various topic groups of 2-3 hours duration. In the summer and autumn of 2026 we have "jump-started" with "Men, food and exercise" and we would like to continue this and establish a further 3-4 topic groups already from the start of 2027.

Evening school and club groups will also be part of the house, and we are very open to collaborating with people who, on a voluntary basis and based on their own interests, would like to contribute to the life and content of the house.

About the job Therefore we are looking for 2-3 enthusiasts who

• Can run different topic groups with content that matches the needs and interests of the target group for Højskolen Bøgildhus
• Can handle tasks related to cooperation with civil society actors and help to initiate activities for seniors in the local areas
• Have an education in health, teaching or similar with relevance for a folk high school for people with specific needs

• Have experience with or an interest in working with people with dementia, chronic illnesses or social challenges
• Are creative and full of ideas and have a “folk high school” vibe
• Are good at building relationships and meeting people with respect, openness and interest
• Can lead if there is a need – but also let others come forward
• Can work independently and take initiative – and thrive as part of close collaboration
• Are flexible and can adapt to a daily life where no day is the same and the tasks are very different
• Want to contribute to a living house where new ideas and initiatives are welcome
• Are prepared for varying working hours distributed over day, evening and weekend shifts and take co-responsibility for planning the working hours in collaboration with colleagues based on participants’ and relatives’ needs

Salary and terms of employment Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement, local agreements and based on the principles of local wage formation.

Please note that you must obtain a police certificate yourself.
