About the job

Are you a student and would you like a study job with responsibility, where you gain insight into authority work and contribute to tasks with significance for the import and control of goods? Then you may be our new student assistant at the border control in Aarhus.

About the position

As a student assistant you will be an important part of the daily operations at Aarhus Port. Your primary tasks relate to official sealing of goods, but you will also assist with administrative tasks and customer service. You will receive thorough training and will work closely with experienced colleagues, while also having independent responsibility for task execution.

Your tasks will include

  • managing our shared mailbox and receiving pre-notifications
  • carrying out official sealings and customer service
  • preparing and returning sealing certificates
  • assisting with other administrative and practical tasks at the border control

You will also participate in a closing shift arrangement together with the other student assistants. Therefore, part of the work will take place late in the day, after the rest of the staff has gone home.

About you

You are a student in a higher education program and would like to gain practical experience from a public authority where quality, responsibility and collaboration are in focus.

We expect that you

  • work in a structured way and have an eye for details
  • take responsibility for your tasks and see them through
  • can work independently and maintain an overview
  • thrive with an informal tone and close collaboration with colleagues
  • meet both colleagues and users with a service-minded and accommodating approach

It is a requirement that you are a student.

About us

You will become part of FødevareNord, which is one of the Danish Food Authority's three food control units. We are a total of about 130 employees attached to our offices in Aalborg and Aarhus – of which about 20 employees are at the Aarhus Port location. We have varying professional backgrounds and work with many different tasks, including inspections of food businesses. At Aarhus Port, the tasks are mainly related to import and export.

We can offer you an exciting job in a good and informal working environment, where we emphasize helpfulness and good collegial cooperation.

There is a strong societal interest in our work, and we believe this obliges us. Our employees give their best every day to achieve good results. We practice open and informal leadership in everyday work and emphasize honesty and alignment of expectations between management and employees.

When should you start

We need your help from December 1st or as soon as possible, or as soon as it is feasible for you.

Your workplace for the time being: Border Control, Østhavnsvej 31, 8000 Aarhus C.

Wages and employment terms

The employment is governed by the current organizational agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians and IT employees between the Ministry of Finance and HK Stat.

Your working time is on average 8 hours per week, but overtime may occur as you join a shift with other colleagues, so vacations, etc. are covered. The working hours are between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM on weekdays – during holidays your working hours, in collaboration with your colleagues, would have to cover whole days on weekdays.
