About the job

Would you like to help create a safe, clear and developing school day for students in the early years at our Inclusion Center?

Frisholm School is seeking a teacher for our inclusion center, primarily for our early years class with students from 1st-3rd grade.

We are looking for you who want to work with children who need a school day with clear adults, strong relationships, structure, predictability and academic development in a safe community.

The role is both educational and social-pedagogical. This means you should want to teach – but also to work with the students' well-being, regulation, relationships and opportunities to participate as a central part of the school day.

We need a teacher who has experience with the special education field and who can maintain calm, overview and decisive action in a daily life that can be unpredictable at times. You must be able to see opportunities rather than limitations and be curious about what the students' behavior tells us.

The position is, in principle, a permanent teaching position. The subject combination can be adjusted to some extent according to your competences, but it is important that you want to teach in the early years and participate closely in the collaboration around the students' well-being, learning and participation opportunities.

About the task

  • To create calm, structure and clear frames in instruction
  • To work with children's participation opportunities, well-being and academic development
  • To plan varied teaching, where demands, support and breaks are balanced
  • To observe students' needs, patterns and reactions – and translate the observations into concrete pedagogical and academic plans
  • To be adaptable and able to adjust teaching, frames and approach when students' needs change
  • To collaborate closely with pedagogues, aides, parents and leadership about the students’ everyday life

In IC we work with students who have different prerequisites for learning, development and participation in the school day. This means that the task requires clear and structured teaching, where the academic content is adapted to the students' needs, and where well-being, relationships and participation opportunities are naturally integrated into everyday life.

The academic work often goes hand in hand with pedagogical goals. For some students development is about academic progress and about being able to participate in communities, experience mastery, regulate themselves and find safety in the school's framework.

Everyday life in IC can vary, and there may be a need to adjust teaching, frames and approach continuously. We are therefore looking for a teacher who can work flexibly, maintain an overview and use observations, sparring and experience to support the students' development.

You will become part of a team where we work closely together about the students. We place emphasis on shared preparation, shared direction and ongoing sparring, so no one is left alone with the task.

Frisholm School

Frisholm School is a public school with a general part and an inclusion center – located on the edge of Them in the southern part of Silkeborg municipality.

Students in the general part come from Them, Salten and surroundings. The school has a very positive and active parent group and an inspiring and engaged school board. The inclusion center has up to 50 students, who primarily come from the southern part of Silkeborg municipality and are referred to a place in our inclusion center.

The school has good physical facilities both indoors and outdoors – and has in the last year upgraded many rooms. The school has a total including IC about 500 students and about 80 teachers and pedagogues. The school is in good growth and works closely in professional learning communities.

Like the rest of Silkeborg Municipality, we are focused on “Everybody should join” and “A common academic stance,” and we have an expectation of ourselves that the learning space is adapted to the students and not the other way around.

We expect that you

  • are a trained teacher and eager to teach students in the early years
  • have experience with or an interest in the special area and for students who need clear frames, support and adapted learning environments
  • have strong relationship skills and can meet the students with warmth, clarity and patience
  • can create structure, predictability and calm around the teaching
  • can maintain an overview and work calmly and systematically in a varied daily life
  • can adjust your practice when students' needs or the day's frames change
  • have an eye for the students' resources and potentials – even when something becomes difficult
  • can adapt demands, activities and academic content so that students with different prerequisites get good participation opportunities
  • contribute constructively to finding solutions in collaboration with colleagues
  • can work in an exploratory manner with the students' needs and translate observations into concrete action plans, pedagogical measures and adjusted teaching
  • can work in an appreciative and framework-setting way with both students, parents and colleagues
  • are keen to join in a close team collaboration and contribute to joint academic development

We offer

  • An exciting task in an early years class where you have a great impact on the students' everyday life
  • A close collaboration with engaged colleagues in IC and across the rest of the school
  • An workplace where we work with professionalism, community and clear frames
  • Opportunity for sparring, development and shared reflection on pedagogical practice
  • A school with good physical facilities – both outdoors and indoors – and access to, among other things, school forest, school garden and outdoor learning
  • A school where we work with professional learning communities, KRAP-inspired thinking and a shared responsibility for the students' well-being and development
  • A good workplace with room for good conversations, good mood and a strong collegial community
