About the job

Do you want to lead a professionally strong team that works with coastal protection, authorities’ tasks on the sea territory and administration of the coastal fund? Do you have experience with leadership, public administration and operations – and are you motivated by delivering results through others? Then you may be our new team leader.

About the position

You will lead the Coastal Protection and Coastal Fund Team in the Office of Coastal Zone Administration, which is part of the Department of Coastal Protection and Climate Adaptation in the Danish Environmental Protection Agency.

You will be responsible for the daily leadership of a team of 12 dedicated specialists who solve a wide range of authorities’ and administrative tasks. The team works, among other things, with case processing under the Coast Protection Act on the sea territory, EIA and bypass cases, technical opinions for municipal coastal protection projects and administration of the coastal fund. In addition, the team handles access to information, appeals concerning bathing and boat docks, and cases where the state is the client.

Your tasks will include, among others

  • Plan and prioritize tasks and resources and follow up on production and case processing times
  • Create structure and ensure progress and quality in the team's deliverables
  • Support employees’ well-being, development and professional sparring
  • Develop workflows and strengthen the quality and efficiency of case processing
  • Translate the office's goals and priorities into a clear direction for the team’s work
  • Handling orders from the ministry etc. in collaboration with the Climate Adaptation Policy Office

Your main task is to create the framework for the team to succeed in its tasks. You must ensure stable operations, timely case processing and high quality in the deliveries, while setting a clear direction and supporting employees’ well-being and professional development. This requires you to be able to prioritize, create overview and follow up – and at the same time give employees responsibility and space to bring their professionalism into play.

About you

We imagine that you have a relevant education at master's level or equivalent and experience with public administration and case processing. It is an advantage if you have knowledge of administration in the coastal zone or other complex government areas.

We place emphasis on that you

  • Have experience with leadership or a solid foundation for personnel management
  • Can prioritize tasks and resources and ensure stable operations in a everyday life with many different tasks
  • Work structured and follow up on goals, progress and results
  • Create engagement, well-being and development through clear leadership and ongoing dialogue
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate well across disciplines and organizational levels

You do not need to know all of the team’s subject areas in advance. We provide a thorough introduction to the tasks. On the other hand, we expect you to be curious about the professionalism, to ask the right questions and to be able to create the framework where the specialists can bring their knowledge into play, and where professionalism and statutory responsibility go hand in hand.

You also play an important role in developing the team’s workflows and strengthening cross-team collaboration. Together with the employees and your leadership colleagues, you will create an overview, prioritize resources and find good solutions across the fields of expertise.
