Team Leader for the Family and Youth Center

The Family and Youth Center in Fredericia Municipality is experiencing a rise in the number of interventions, and therefore we are now expanding management with a new team leader position.

We are seeking a team leader who can unite professional leadership, personnel management with responsibility for daily operations. You must be able to set a direction, create followership and support employees' professional development, while ensuring a good working environment and a sustainable task solution.

You will be the primary team leader for the family counselors with personnel responsibility for about 20 employees. At the same time, you will be part of an ambitious management team where we share responsibility for professional development and for creating coherent solutions for children, youth and families.

Our professional foundation – a common framework

In the Family and Youth Center, our professional work takes its starting point in a common understanding framework rooted in the systemic and narrative approach as well as neuroaffective development psychology. These perspectives contribute to a nuanced understanding of the life situations, relationships and developmental opportunities of children, youth and families and form the basis for our professional reflections and actions.

We are focused on understanding people in the contexts they are part of, and on examining the stories, experiences and relational patterns that shape their lives. We believe that new perspectives, secure relationships and meaningful inclusion can open up new ways of acting and create a basis for development.

Mentalization is a central perspective in our professional work. We strive to be curious about our own and others’ thoughts, feelings, intentions and reactions—even when situations are complex or emotionally demanding. This applies both in encounters with children, youth and families and in the relationships between managers and employees, colleagues and collaborators.

As a team leader you will have an important task of actively bringing the professional foundation into play. You will support employees’ reflection on their own practice, qualify the professional discussions and contribute to us collectively developing our understanding of what creates positive changes. This requires that you can translate professional perspectives into concrete actions and create room for learning—even when the answers are not unambiguous.

A significant part of our work is to ensure that children, youth and families have real influence on their own pathways. Their voices, perspectives and networks must be actively involved when we design and develop interventions.

You will become part of a strong professional and leadership community

The Family and Youth Center is Fredericia Municipality’s executing unit in the family area and is part of Family and Health Promotion, where the Family Department, Family Area Day, Administration and Relief, Health Visiting and Dental Services are also organized.

In the Family and Youth Center we are about 75 employees, who every day work to create positive changes for children, youth and families.

We are organized in smaller professional communities that include psychologists, family treatment, practical-pedagogical interventions, Youth Team, Early Childhood Team, interventions for children and young people with disabilities, group interventions, activities, family decision-making and holistic family interventions.

You report to the center director and become part of a leadership team with three team leader colleagues. Together we set the course for the center, prioritize resources and ensure coherence between professional development and daily operations.

You will also be part of the team leader forum in Family and Health Promotion, which consists of 14 team leaders. Here we work with common direction, coordination and collaboration across the area.

These guiding principles form the basis for our professional practice and collaboration.

A shared ambition for children and youth

We work from Fredericia Municipality’s view of children and youth, which is described in Policy for children, youth and education.

This is a fundamental ambition that we translate through our professional work, our collaboration with families and our relations to other actors around the children and the youth.

We work among other things with the implementation of the Child Act (Barnets Lov) as well as inclusive and network-inclusive methods. In addition, we work closely with day care, schools, youth and adult areas as well as leisure activities.

As a team leader you will help support the collaboration and ensure that our professional ambitions are translated into cohesive interventions for children, youth and families.

Who are you?

We envision that you have a relevant social-work background, for example as an educator, and experience with leadership or coordination. You have an understanding of the complexity of working with children, youth and families and a willingness to take responsibility for both employees’ professional development and the overall task solution.

We emphasize that you

• Have experience with leadership or coordination and preferably an executive education in leadership.
• Have insight into the importance of mentalization in working with families, employees and partners.
• Can create space for professional reflection, perspective shifts and qualified sparring in complex situations.
• Can balance professional quality, personnel management, psychosocial working environment and economic sustainability.
• Work systematically and relationally and can translate goals and strategies into concrete practice.
• Are approachable, collaborative and actively contribute to a binding leadership community.
• Can navigate a politically governed organization and translate political and strategic goals into professional priorities.

You do not need to know it all from day one. The most important is that you want the leadership role, have a solid professional stance and the ability to create followership and development together with the employees.

Salary and employment terms

In accordance with current collective agreement between KL and the negotiating organization.
