About the job

Copenhagen's development continues, and as employees in Soil and Groundwater we work to ensure Copenhagen's urban development takes climate and environment into account for the benefit of the city's residents and users. That means that with us you have the opportunity to use and develop your professional skills while you work with dedicated colleagues to manage contaminated soil, protect groundwater and ensure that the city's construction and civil engineering projects comply with both legislation and the municipality's climate and environmental ambitions.

The coming years include establishment of large infrastructure projects in the Copenhagen Municipality, including the construction of a new metro line, a stormwater tunnel and the development of the new district Østhavnen. In this connection we are seeking a colleague for our unit primarily for case processing of tasks in the soil area.

The unit works with authorities tasks in the soil and groundwater area. The tasks include soil handling, permits for construction on contaminated sites, groundwater management in large and small construction projects, supervision of water supply and responding to political orders, citizen inquiries, hearings and similar. It is important for us that tasks are solved in a holistic manner, just as we emphasize close colleague collaboration and knowledge sharing in the unit and across the environmental area.

Our primary contacts in relation to case processing are environmental consultants, contractors, Region Copenhagen, Metro Company I/S and our utility company HOFOR.

Your tasks

As an employee in the unit you help lift the tasks so that we together reach the goal. In this position you depending on your professional qualifications may come to work with

  • assignment of surplus soil to the right soil recipients
  • preparation of § 19 permits for recycling of soil
  • preparation of § 8 permits for construction on contaminated sites, supervision and closing the case when the construction is completed
  • permits for use of chemicals and products in the subsoil
  • to carry out environmental supervision on construction sites
  • to issue orders under the Soil Contamination Act
  • sparring with colleagues in other disciplines

We expect that you

Have an education in the environmental field, e.g., environmental engineer, geographer, geologist, environmental chemist, biologist or similar relevant education and very welcome experience with soil handling and general experience with soil and groundwater from private industry or the public sector, and in addition that you

  • have understanding of contamination components as well as contamination spread in soil and groundwater
  • have competencies in ecotoxicology and risk assessment of environmental pollutants in soil and groundwater
  • value close team-based collaboration on task solving
  • take co-responsibility for your tasks, both daily operations and team development
  • thrive with a good mix of smaller and larger tasks
  • have interest in the relevant legislation in the field
  • communicate and convey in a service-oriented way to citizens and businesses
  • have interest in authority work in a politically driven organization
  • are good at formulating yourself in Danish, both written and spoken. It is important that you have the ability to formulate technical problems understandably and a desire to provide good service to those we collaborate with, both internally in the administration, citizens, private developers and utility companies

It will be an advantage if you have some years of experience, but newly graduated candidates are also very welcome to apply for the position.

Conditions of employment

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and after negotiation with relevant trade organizations. The position is available to take up as soon as possible.

Working hours are 37 hours/week including lunch break. You get flexible working hours (flexitime arrangement), possibility of home office, a centrally located workplace and an attractive pension scheme.
