About the job

Middelfart Municipality's Family Department seeks 1 child and youth advisor for The Handicap Team's team for children 0 - 13 years with disabilities.

Are you engaged in working with young people in a complex life situation? Do you have a strong commitment to creating trusting relationships and offering competent support to families? Then it might be you we are looking for.

About the Handicap Team: The Handicap Team is part of Middelfart Municipality's Family Department, and we work purposefully with authority tasks for children and young people with disabilities aged 0-18 and their families. A large part of the tasks in the department consists of assessing the need for handicap compensating allowances as well as involving the children, their parents and their networks.

The Handicap Team works with both the Social Services Act and the Child Act in relation to handicap compensating allowances, including extra costs and lost earning capacity, and supportive interventions.

As a child and youth advisor you will become part of the handicap team, who, like you, are also passionate about the target group. In the Handicap Team we distribute cases according to competence and knowledge areas, and therefore there is plenty of opportunity to influence your own caseload. The target group in the handicap team primarily consists of children and young people with various forms of disability.

About us: In the Handicap Team we meet families with a curious, open and recognizing approach. We see the child/young person and the parents as experts on their own lives, and we highly value their perspectives. We strive to create a trust-building space, where we together with the family can explore and listen to their story. With respect for the framework of the law, we think creatively and offer guidance, support and help that can contribute to a dignified life for the child/young person.

Your role: As a child and youth advisor you will be responsible for ensuring close and coordinated collaboration with children in the age group 0 – 13 years and their families. A central part of your work will be to create clear and understandable communication channels, so families feel heard and involved in the case handling. You will focus on actively involving both the child and the parents in the collaboration and in the decisions that are made.

As a child and youth advisor in the Handicap Team you will be part of a dedicated and professionally strong team, where we collaborate to ensure the best possible support for the families. With us you will work with close and coordinated cooperation with the families and at the same time focus on creating good well-being in the team.

We emphasize that you

  • have experience with authority work and preferably experience/knowledge within the area of children and young people with disabilities.
  • in conversations with the families work to create changes, open up for new perspectives and tackle the difficult issues.

  • are good at collaborating and see interdisciplinarity as a strength.
  • contribute to your own learning and development

  • A mentoring system in the first 3 months of employment.
  • Supervision and opportunity for further education.
