About the job

As a sexton you will be an important part of a strong and engaged team consisting of our current sexton, priests, organists, church culture staff and many volunteers. Working days are never exactly the same – and you contribute both practically, organisatorically and humanly.

Your tasks include, among other things

• preparation of the church for services and church acts
• participation in services and church acts
• cleaning in the church and parish premises
• purchasing, setting up, coffee brewing, clearing away and washing up at meetings and events
• light technical handling of AV equipment, bell ringing systems and fire safety systems etc.
• cooperation and coordination with both staff and volunteers

Tasks are planned in close cooperation between the two sextons, and you cover each other during holidays and days off — therefore flexibility and good communication are essential.

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment is covered by the General Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Organization of Public Employees (OAO-S) and the Collective Agreement for church officials with core duties such as sexton or sexton (graver) entered into by the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs and the Danish Sexton Association and the corresponding protocol for sextons. The annual salary is agreed within the range of DKK 324,667 – 408,841 per year (current prices). In addition, an OK allowance of DKK 1,401 per year (current prices).

There is a provision for availability for the position. The availability allowance amounts to DKK 33,231 per year (current prices).

Pension according to the agreement 15%

Salary, OK allowance and availability allowance are prorated in accordance with the agreed employment fraction.

Current civil servant sextons have the right to retain their civil servant status when employed with direct transition. In that case, a classification of the position must take place.

Agreement on placement in the salary interval is entered into between the parish council and the Danish Sexton Association.

If the employee in the position has not completed the obligatory education for sextons, this must be completed within the first 2 years of employment. There is a 3-month probation, and a child protection check is required.
