About the job

At VIA Education Academy we are focused on how we can develop and qualify profession-oriented teaching. We work in an investigative, experimental manner and in close collaboration with teachers and professional education programs, and we are now seeking an experienced and academically strong colleague with solid pedagogical-didactic competences and special knowledge of and experience with professional didactics, embodied learning and physical learning environments.

About the position

As a consultant at VIA Education Academy you will play a central role in the work with teaching development and pedagogical-didactic competence development of teachers across VIA’s more than 40 educations.

You should particularly contribute with your expertise in body, space and learning and, together with teachers and programs, investigate and develop how the teaching’s physical frames, materiality and bodily dimensions can be made didactically meaningful and create different possibilities for participation, learning and development in the professional educations. Part of the work will also be linked to the reform of professional higher education and the ambitions to strengthen practice-oriented teaching and develop profession-oriented learning environments.

The position combines professional responsibility, project management, facilitation, teaching development and strategic advisory work. You will also join the academy’s other pedagogical-didactic tasks and development initiatives.

Your professional profile

We value that you have knowledge of and experience with one or more of the following areas:

  • professional didactics and broad general didactics and pedagogical understanding in relation to professional educations
  • competence development of teachers at university colleges or other continuing education
  • bodily, material and sensory anchored learning processes
  • simulation and simulation-based teaching
  • scenario-, workshop- and exercise-based didactics
  • development and didactic use of physical teaching and learning environments
  • teaching forms and learning environments that give students different opportunities for participation, learning and development of professional judgment.

We do not expect you to be a specialist in all areas, but that you have a clear professional profile that you can bring into teaching and competence development work.

Your tasks

Your tasks will among other things include

  • develop and implement pedagogical-didactic competence development programs for teachers
  • develop, lead and coordinate cross-cutting projects and development initiatives
  • translate research and other knowledge forms into practice-oriented development programs, pedagogical-didactic experiments and pilot actions
  • facilitate learning communities, workshops and development processes
  • provide pedagogical-didactic sparring to teachers, professional environments and educational leadership
  • contribute to building and sharing knowledge across educations, research environments and other units in VIA
  • participate in relevant research and development activities.

We imagine you

  • have a relevant education at master’s or PhD level and solid knowledge of pedagogy and didactics
  • have solid knowledge of and experience with professional didactics and one or more of the position’s special professional areas
  • have experience with competence development and facilitation of teaching development at higher education
  • have experience with project or process management and can translate research and other knowledge forms into concrete actions
  • can work independently with clear professional responsibility and at the same time thrive in collaboration across disciplines and organizational levels
  • are curious about different professional educations and want to immerse yourself in their practice fields.

It is an advantage if you have experience from a university college, a higher education institution or another profession-oriented education environment, preferably based on a professional bachelor’s degree or other professional experience. We also welcome a PhD in a relevant field or documented solid experience with research and development activities, preferably from a university college context.

As VIA Education Academy collaborates with educations across VIA, the work takes place at several of VIA’s campuses in the Central Denmark Region. We expect you to have a driver’s license and access to your own car.

Who are we?

VIA Education Academy is the internal pedagogical-didactic unit at VIA University College, located at Campus C, Aarhus. Our core task is to support and initiate experimental and profession-didactic teaching development for everyone who teaches students at VIA.

We work with action learning and professional learning communities as central approaches and place emphasis on cross-disciplinary collaboration across educations, shared areas and research centers. We are focused on developing teaching together with teachers and work in an investigative and non-dogmatic manner with the pedagogical-didactic problems we encounter. You will therefore have a broad contact surface and join many different professional and organizational contexts.

You will become part of a team of senior and chief consultants with different professional profiles, who work both independently and together on projects, competence development programs and cross-cutting initiatives. We are a learning and developing work community with high ceilings and room for professional depth, curiosity and different perspectives. We meet in formal professional forums, in smaller work communities and more informally across our tasks.

We also prioritize common traditions and social occasions, and when the weather allows, those who wish can take a break together on the multi-court or on a walk along Brabrandstien.

We offer

  • opportunity to influence the development of profession-oriented teaching in VIA
  • a significant professional and development responsibility with the possibility to bring in your own professional strengths
  • opportunity to contribute to the pedagogical-didactic development in connection with the reform of professional educations
  • collaboration with many different educations and professional environments
  • flexible working forms and good opportunities for professional development

Application

In your application we would like to hear

  • how your professional knowledge and experience can contribute to the development of profession-oriented teaching with special focus on body, space and learning
  • how you have worked with professional didactics and teaching and competence development
  • what experience you have with professional educations or professional areas
  • what experience you have with project management, process management or coordination
  • what particularly motivates you about the position.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is full-time. Employment is in accordance with the state’s academic agreement as a special consultant or chief consultant depending on the position’s concrete tasks as well as your qualifications and experience.

If you want to know more about the position, you are welcome to contact Pia Rauff Krøyer, head of VIA Education Academy, at [email protected] or 87553461.

The application deadline is 25/11 2026 and we will hold interviews on 3/12 2026 for the first round and on 9/12 2026 for the second round.
