About the job

Juliane Marie Centret

Midwife or nurse sought for Maternity Ward 4021, Rigshospitalet

Do you want to be the professional who makes a difference when families stand in the middle of life’s greatest joy – and at the same time in their greatest crisis?

At Maternity Ward 4021 we meet families where the newborn is not the only responsibility. Here the work requires high professional standards, the courage to have difficult conversations and the desire to create security when life is most vulnerable.

We are seeking a midwife or nurse for a permanent position and for a temporary position of 32-37 hours per week from 1/12/2026, or by agreement. You will work in rotating shifts and weekend shifts either every second weekend or every third weekend. There is the possibility of a norm-reduction agreement.

Here, early intervention makes a difference

At 4021 we work with families where there is often more at stake than the birth itself. We meet, among other things, families with mental illness, social challenges, previous trauma, complex family situations or Foetus Mors pathways.

We know that the first days after birth can have a decisive impact on both the child’s and the family’s future. Therefore we work purposefully with early intervention, attachment, family formation and establishment of breastfeeding – always with respect for each family’s history and resources.

You must be able to handle difficult conversations, build trust quickly and want to stand beside families when life has not turned out as they had hoped. In return you will have meaningful work with the opportunity to make a difference that extends far beyond the hospitalization.

A strong professional community

Maternity Ward 4021 is part of the Department of Gynecology, Fertility and Births at Rigshospitalet – one of Denmark’s most specialized birth centers with about 5,600 births per year.

We have 10 private rooms and work closely with the department’s other maternity wards (5033/34 and 7044), the Postpartum Clinic as well as a strong interdisciplinary team consisting of psychologist, social worker, psychiatrists and health visitors.

With us you become part of an engaged staff group where high professionalism goes hand in hand with psychological safety, humour and helpfulness. We prioritize sparring, development and collegial support – also on busy days.

Help shape the maternity department of the future

At the end of 2027 we move into Mary Elizabeths Hospital – Denmark’s new hospital for children, youngsters, pregnant women and families.

Here the maternity wards will be gathered in completely new, modern settings with optimal possibilities for interdisciplinary collaboration and patient pathways. As a new employee you get a unique opportunity to become an active part of the relocation process and help develop workflows, culture and framework in a completely new maternity area.

It is a rare opportunity to both shape the future and be involved from the beginning.

We offer

  • A meaningful job with a focus on early intervention, family formation and vulnerable families.
  • Thorough introduction and a structured training program.
  • High professionalism and close interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Good opportunities for professional development, teaching and sparring.
  • An work environment characterized by trust, humour and strong collegiality.

We are looking for you, who

  • are a licensed midwife or nurse, ideally with a minimum of 2 years’ experience – but not required.
  • have experience with or an interest in vulnerable families.
  • thrive in complex patient pathways and can remain calm and focused.
  • have strong communication skills and can handle difficult conversations with presence and respect.
  • have an interest in breastfeeding and family formation – preferably IBCLC certified or with a desire to become so.
  • wish to develop both yourself and our upcoming maternity department at Mary Elizabeths Hospital.

Practical information

  • Application deadline: 18/11 2026
  • Interviews: in week 48
  • Salary and employment: determined in accordance with the applicable collective agreement for non-manual staff in the SHK sector concluded between the Danish Nurses Organization and the Regions’ Salary and Tariff Board, or for non-manual occupational therapists, physiotherapists and midwives concluded with the Regions’ Salary and Tariff Board.
  • Positions at Juliane Marie Centret are covered by the regulation on obtaining a child certificate. Therefore, it is a prerequisite for employment that you have a clean child certificate. The Centre will obtain the child certificate from the National Police (Rigspolitiet), with the applicant’s consent.
