About the job
We are looking for a project manager who wants to drive complex projects and thrive in both internal and external collaboration relationships.
Denmark's coasts are changing. Storm surges, erosion and rising water levels impose new demands on how we protect the coasts – both now and in the future.
With us you get close to the concrete problems. You will have the opportunity to lead technical projects and be involved from the first investigations and calculations to the solutions that must function in practice.
You get close to the concrete challenges
The work starts from concrete coastlines and challenges. Where is there a risk of erosion or flooding? How does the existing protection work? And what can be done better?
As a technical project manager you will be responsible for driving projects, coordinating the different professional contributions and ensuring that the results can be used further.
You will work with municipalities, consultants and other partners. It is about collecting knowledge, conducting analyses and calculations, and getting the different disciplines to work together.
The work takes place both at the desk, in the meeting room and out on the coast.
You will, among other things, come to do
- Be the technical project manager on concrete projects
- Plan and coordinate tasks and professional contributions
- Follow up on progress and quality
- Investigate concrete coastline sections and issues
- Develop and qualify possible solutions
- Prepare sketches and decision basis
- Collaborate with municipalities, consultants and other stakeholders
There will also be meetings and site visits where the technical assessments must be weighed against the actual conditions.
You must be able to bring people and disciplines together
We imagine that you have an engineering degree or another relevant natural science master's degree and have project management experience.
Project management with us is not only about timelines and meetings. It is also about being able to listen, ask the right questions and make complex problems understandable to others.
You must therefore be able to create progress in the projects while also having a view for the people and disciplines around them.
We emphasize among other things that you
- Can create structure and keep direction in a project
- Communicate clearly – both in writing and orally
- Thrive in collaboration across disciplines
- Can talk with municipalities, consultants, authorities and other partners
- Can both build good relations and keep to the professional direction
- Take responsibility that projects are completed
It is also an advantage if you have worked with some of the following
- Design and sizing of coastal protection constructions or water infrastructure
- Wind, water levels and waves
- Geotechnical engineering and foundation
- Assessment of existing structures
- Collection and processing of data
We are several different disciplines in the team, and we emphasize that you have a solid professional grounding, are curious and take responsibility for your tasks.
You will have 26 colleagues with different perspectives on the coast
Coastal Technology is part of the Area for Coasts and Climate Adaptation. We are 26 employees distributed in Lemvig and Odense with different professional backgrounds – including engineers, geographers, geologists, oceanographers and physicists.
It provides an environment where there are good opportunities for professional sparring, and where we often view the same issue from different perspectives. It is a strength when the task is to find solutions to complex coastal challenges.
We have high professional ambitions, but also place importance on a daily life where there is room for a cup of coffee, a laugh and a chat with colleagues.
We are working with something that is becoming more important
Coastal protection is about more than dikes, waves and calculations. It is also about where and how we should protect Denmark, and about finding solutions that can function technically and make sense for the people and communities who have to live with them.
You will have the opportunity to work on concrete projects together with municipalities and other actors. At the same time we work on the development of knowledge and models, including in international collaborations, which can give us a better picture of the risk of storm surges.
It is a task that will fill more in the coming years – and where there is a need for strong disciplines.
A flexible working life
We have flexible working hours and the possibility to work from home when the tasks are suitable for it. There will be meetings and site visits in different parts of the country, so you must be prepared for a bit of travel. There is an option for workplace in either Odense or Lemvig.
If you would like to work on concrete coastal challenges and help find solutions, we look forward to hearing from you.
