Gentofte Municipality seeks two special education consultants

We are looking for two consultants with solid knowledge of teaching, pedagogy and didactics. You will support schools' work with communities that lift and contribute to qualified case handling in the central school visitation committee.

In Gentofte Municipality, we work from the school vision "Formation for life and the world" . We want to create a good school life with community and immersion – also for children and young people with special needs.

Therefore we are in the process of a larger competence- and quality-development project in the area of special education. The aim is to strengthen the schools' competencies and develop structures so that more students thrive, learn and develop in relation to the general education area.

As a special education consultant you will have a central role in this work. You combine practice-oriented guidance at the schools with case handling and support for the central school visitation committee.

You will be based at Gentofte Town Hall and have an outward-facing role at the schools, including in the centrally managed special education provisions. Here you provide concrete sparring on, among other things, students' support needs, decisions on visitation, and return from specialized services to the general education area.

You work closely with school leadership, staff, parents, PPR and Family and Health. At the same time you contribute to communicating and implementing the visitation committee's decisions within the framework of the Danish Public School Act and the regulations on the primary school’s special education and other special pedagogical assistance.

Your tasks

Special education guidance and development

• Advise schools, staff and leadership on concrete cases, student groups and special education interventions.
• Contribute to competence- and quality development in the special education provisions and in general education with a particular focus on didactics that strengthen community and participation.
• Support students' return from specialized services to the general education area.

Case management and visitation

• Coordinate case processes between school, PPR, parents, special services and the administration.
• Quality assure visitation decisions and ensure that cases are sufficiently informed.
• Prepare cases for the central school visitation committee.
• Communicate and follow up on decisions and revisits.
• Contribute to complaint handling and re-evaluation of decisions.
• Advise school leadership on authority tasks in the field of special education.

Your team and workplace

You will become part of the Special Education Development Team, which consists of four special education consultants, two administrative consultants and a team leader to whom you report.

We work to create participation opportunities and academic results for the students, good dialogue with citizens, as well as quality and transparency in case processing. We are thorough and persistent – and cherish a collegial community where we help each other and have fun.

School visitation is organized under the Directorate for Children and School, Culture, Youth and Leisure. The school area includes, among other things, 12 public schools, including one special school, 12 after-school care programs (GFOs) and nine leisure centers.

About you

You have concrete experience from primary school and special education, knowledge of relevant legislation and a relevant education as a teacher or educator – preferably supplemented with further education in special education.

Practical information

• Working hours: Both positions are full-time, 37 hours per week on average.
• Start date: January 1, 2027 or by agreement.

Employment is conducted under the applicable collective agreement and negotiations with the negotiating organization.
