Why it works: Numbers for satisfaction, volume and improvements make a "soft" role measurable. The profile points forward to the next step.

Step-by-step guide

  1. 1

Pick the template that fits your situation

If you have several years of experience, use the chronological template: experience first, latest job at the top. If you are a student, a recent graduate or changing careers, move education and skills up so what speaks for you comes first. The examples above show both. Copy the example closest to you and replace the text with your own — keep the structure.

  2. 2

Fill in contact details at the top

Name, job title or the role you are applying for, phone number, email and city. Add a link to your LinkedIn profile if it is up to date. Date of birth, CPR number, marital status and full address do not belong on a Danish CV today — employers must not take age or family status into account, and the city is enough. Use a neutral email address with your name.

  3. 3

    Write a 2–4 line profile

The profile is the first thing recruiters read. It answers three questions: who are you professionally, what are you good at, and what are you looking for? Be specific: "Registered nurse with 4 years in an emergency department" says more than "committed and flexible". Tailor the last sentence to the job you are applying for.

  4. 4

    Describe experience with results

For each job: title, workplace, period (month and year) and 3–4 bullet points. Start each bullet with a verb and say what you achieved — ideally with numbers: "Packed 180 orders an hour with under 0.5% errors" rather than "Responsible for packing". Go back 10–15 years; older jobs can be listed with title and period only. Explain gaps briefly in one line (leave, travel, studies).

  5. 5

    Education, skills and languages

List education with title, institution and year, latest first. Skills are concrete: systems, certificates, driving licence and subject areas — not personality traits; you show those in your experience. State languages with level ("English: fluent written and spoken"). Volunteering, clubs and coaching count, especially when you have little work experience.

  6. 6

Tailor, proofread and save as PDF

Read the job posting and make sure the 3–5 most important words from it appear naturally in your CV — that helps both people and the ATS systems that sort applications. Keep it to 1 page (2 pages with more than 10 years of experience), proofread it out loud, and save as PDF with a file name like "CV-Firstname-Lastname.pdf". The Arbejd.com CV builder gives you layout, AI suggestions and PDF for free.

Yes. Press "Copy text" under the template or example and paste it into a blank Word or Google Docs document. Keep the headings as they are, set your name in a larger font, and save as PDF before you send it. Avoid building the CV with tables or text boxes — that makes it hard for ATS systems to read.

The best CV template in Denmark is simple and chronological: contact details, profile, experience with the latest job first, education, skills and languages. Graphic-heavy templates with columns, icons and "level" bars look nice but are often misread by ATS systems and take focus away from the content.

Put education and skills before experience, and include everything that shows responsibility: part-time jobs, student jobs, volunteering, coaching, club work and school projects. Write a profile that says what you can do and want, and keep the CV to one page. See the example "Student – first job" above.

A good CV is one page long, starts with name, contact details and a 2–4 line profile, then shows experience with 3–4 result bullets per job, education, skills and languages. It is easy to skim in 10 seconds: clear headings, short bullets, consistent date format and no dense blocks of text. The five examples on this page show what that looks like in different fields.

Yes. The template uses standard headings ("Work experience", "Education", "Skills") and plain text without tables, so ATS systems can read it. The most important thing you need to do yourself is to use the same words as the job posting and save as PDF.

One page if you have less than about 10 years of experience. Two pages at most beyond that. Recruiters skim a CV for a few seconds the first time, so the most important information must be at the top. Older and less relevant jobs can be shortened to title and period.

It is optional. Photos are common in Denmark, but no employer may require one, and a CV without a photo is completely normal. If you use one, it should be a recent head-and-shoulders portrait. If you do not have a good photo, the CV builder can enhance an ordinary picture for free with AI — see the guide "Photo on your CV".
