Your new job

You will be part of a school where we work closely across disciplines and where we put our different professional competencies to use. You will be met with trust in task solving and a good atmosphere between staff and management.

You will be attached to the primary grades and have both SFO and school hours. In the SFO you will help create a safe, fun and development-focused leisure environment for the children, where there is room for play, community and different interests.

In the school you will be attached to our 2nd grades, where you together with the rest of the adults in the class contribute to supporting the social and academic community of the class. You will be an important adult for the children and help create good conditions for their well-being, learning and development.

As part of the role there will also be close parent collaboration and attention to the individual needs of the pupils.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for two pedagogical staff. You can be trained as a pedagogue, pedagogical assistant (PAU) or teaching assistant. So we are looking for trained pedagogues, PAUs and teaching assistants. The most important for us is that you have experience with children – preferably from school and/or SFO – and that you want to be an active part of the children's daily life.

A SFO with community and development

We are focused on creating an SFO that is cohesive across the entire primary school. We have a shared focus on the pedagogical quality and on creating good transitions and coherence between school and SFO.

We believe that children develop best when they meet adults who are present, clear and curious about their perspectives. Therefore we work closely together and share responsibility for the children's well-being and development.

About Birkholmskolen

In Herlev Municipality there is a massive focus on the public school, and 21 million DKK per year is invested in the general school area from 2026. The funds go among other things to a two-teacher system in Danish and mathematics, competence development and more adults in SFO and clubs. This provides better conditions for high-quality activities and to build strong relationships – and thus make a difference for the children in school, SFO and club.

Furthermore, from this school year we have established local schools on each site with close and approachable leadership and a strong local community. The process is full of courage and energy, as we have moved from being part of a site-delimited school to becoming an independent, two-track school.

The school is located in the northeast part of Herlev, and our school district consists of both socially and economically diverse residential areas. We have a close collaboration with PPR, family counselors, caseworkers and other authorities in the municipality.

As a new employee you will be offered a mentor in your first school year.

Start date Tuesday, December 1, 2026 – and preferably earlier if you have the opportunity.

Salary and terms of employment

Salary is set according to the applicable collective agreement and the principles for new pay. A child and criminal background check is obtained for employees who are employed at the schools in Herlev Municipality.

Both positions are 37 hours per week and to be filled as soon as possible.

Herlev Municipality has smoke-free working hours.
