About the job
Build AI solutions that actually work
An AI solution can look fantastic in a demo and still fail when it meets reality. At the Danish Transport Authority you get the opportunity to develop solutions where AI is a central part of the functionality – and follow them from idea and experimentation to solutions that can be used in practice.
Be part of building our AI Lab
You will become part of IT and Digitalisation, where we are in the process of establishing a new AI Lab. You therefore enter an area under construction and will have the opportunity to influence both our solutions and the way we will work with AI. We work closely with the Transport Authority's professional areas to find the places where AI can create real value.
What your day looks like with us
You work closely with the business offices to understand their workflows and problems and translate them into solutions where AI is used when it makes sense. It may be generative AI, but also analysis of documents and images, information extraction or classification. You work from the first prototypes to solutions that can be integrated with our systems, tested and function stably in practice. Your main tasks will be to:
- develop and maintain solutions where AI is a central part
- test different AI methods and translate good prototypes into robust solutions
- integrate AI with existing systems, data and workflows
- systematically evaluate quality, errors and uncertainty
- ensure safe and responsible use of AI.
What you need to be able to do
You have a solid foundation in software development and can take responsibility for your solutions and work independently in an area under construction. It is a requirement that you have a relevant technical master's degree in, for example, computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, software development or equivalent. We emphasise that you:
- can program and integrate AI with existing systems and data sources
- have practical experience with different AI technologies and methods, e.g. generative AI, document and image analysis, information extraction or classification
- have worked with language models and relevant AI patterns such as RAG and agent-based solutions
- can evaluate and test AI solutions and relate to quality, errors and uncertainty in the results
- understand the importance of data, security and guardrails when AI is involved in solutions.
We expect that you have practical experience building AI solutions and have worked with several of the technologies and methods mentioned. You do not need to be a specialist in all of them, but you should have a broad understanding of AI and be able to assess which approach fits the problem. You naturally take the initiative to engage in dialogue across the organisation. You seek colleagues, share ideas and experiences, and are curious about their work and challenges.
You want to communicate the possibilities of AI – both in direct dialogue and in writing – and you thrive with a substantial part of the job taking place among colleagues and not only in front of the screen.
What you get with us
When we say that we are a flexible workplace, where it is important that our employees experience a balance between work time and leisure time – we mean it. Our core hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays). This is where we expect you to be available and working. If you work more than your 37 hours, you accrue flex. You can use it either as full or half flex days or, for example, as shorter workdays for a period.
In general, you have a good opportunity to plan and manage your own workday, and you can work from home for 2 days a week if your tasks allow it. We are a workplace that accommodates employees in different life stages. Therefore, we offer you tailored working hours, leave, flexjobs, extra hours, and reduced hours if that is what you need.
Salary and employment terms
The position is a full-time, 37-hour job. Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the collective agreement between the state and the Danish Association of Civil Servants or another relevant collective agreement. Employment and pay are as an attorney with travel obligations or as a senior consultant under the AC agreement. The final salary is determined based on your experience and qualifications.
In addition to the base salary, there is a pension in accordance with the collective agreement and any local allowances. It is a condition of employment that you can security-clear to the classification level HEMMELIG and maintain approval for the duration of the employment
