About the job

Are you the pedagogue your colleagues naturally turn to when something needs to be discussed? Then you may be our new department head in the nursery at Amagerbro Børnehus.

Would you like to be close to the children and at the same time help set the direction for the pedagogical work?

Then it may be you we are looking for as our new department head in the nursery.

In Amagerbro Børnehus we are looking for a trained pedagogue who would like to try leadership – or who may already have experience with professional leadership and would like to combine leadership with being part of the everyday pedagogical practice.

A leader who is close to practice

As department head you will become part of our management team and the pedagogue leadership's closest collaborator in the daily management of the nursery.

The position is practice-oriented and as a starting point you will have a fixed day per week where you handle your leadership, coordination and administrative tasks, as well as whatever else is agreed with the Pedagogical Leader. The rest of the time you are a part of the everyday life on the floor as a pedagogue, which means you do not lead from a distance, but are close to the children, the staff and the pedagogical practice – and actively use what you see and experience in everyday life in your leadership.

You will, among other things, have the following responsibilities

  • Support high pedagogical quality in the nursery
  • Provide professional sparring and constructive feedback to your colleagues
  • Create an overview and coordinate the daily task solving and organization
  • Be involved in ensuring that joint decisions are translated into practice
  • Follow up on agreements, initiatives and development processes
  • Contribute to the development of the whole house together with the pedagogical leader and the department head in the kindergarten

You do not have personnel or budget responsibility, but instead a clear professional mandate to make decisions in daily life and act on behalf of the pedagogical leader when agreed or necessary.

Who are we?

Amagerbro Børnehus is a self-governing institution and part of the self-governing cluster Lumix.

We are housed in a large, newly built building at Store Møllevej 13, where we have lived since 2023. The building consists of four nursery groups and three kindergarten groups.

We are throughout the house focused on relationships, routine situations, the learning environment and how we as adults take responsibility for creating the best conditions for children's well-being, development, learning and participation in communities.

We are also focused on how we as adults can create good conditions for each other – because we believe that the quality of our pedagogical work is closely connected to the quality of our professional working community.

Our entire cluster is in the process of training in ICDP (International Child Development Program) - both teachers and assistants, so we ensure that we all work in the same direction to develop the pedagogical offer.

We are a house in development

As department head you will be an important part of the continued development of Amagerbro Børnehus. Our management team will consist of the pedagogical leader, you, and the department head in the kindergarten. We are a newly established management team and you will have a great influence on how we should collaborate.

We are continuously working to develop our pedagogical practice and for that, we use the observation tool KIDS and the pedagogical supervision. We do not expect you to have all the answers, but we do expect you to be curious, willing to ask questions and eager, together with us, to explore how we can make things even better.

Who are you?

We imagine that you

  • Are a trained pedagogue and would like to combine pedagogical practice with professional leadership
  • Have experience with – or willingness to develop yourself in – professional leadership
  • Are clear, present and good at creating followership
  • Can give professional sparring and feedback in a respectful and constructive manner
  • Have a view for both the individual child, the staff group and the whole institution
  • Can maintain an overview and make decisions, even when daily life changes
  • Are curious about other perspectives and want to develop yourself together with others
  • Can work loyally with common decisions and at the same time contribute to refining them
  • Have a desire to be a visible and active part of the everyday pedagogical life.

Perhaps you already have experience as department head, team coordinator or similar. Perhaps you are an experienced pedagogue who feels that you would like to try your hand at leadership. The most important for us is that you have a desire for leadership, professionalism and the sense of community .

We offer you

  • An exciting position where you have the opportunity to combine pedagogy and leadership
  • An practice-oriented leadership role where you remain close to the children
  • A close collaboration with the pedagogical leader and another department head
  • Opportunity to influence the development of the nursery and the whole house
  • Engaged and professionally curious colleagues
  • Opportunity for professional sparring, reflection and competency development
  • An institution where we actively work with relationships, learning environments and children's communities
  • An workplace where we believe that good leadership is created through trust, clarity, dialogue and professionalism.

Have we sparked your curiosity?

We would love to hear from you. If you have questions about the position or would like to come by and see the house, you are welcome to contact Sallie Berger, pedagogical leader, at 21 12 25 14 .
