Ammershøjparken Nursing Home seeks SSA/SSH day shift

Social and Health Care Assistant (SSA) and Social and Health Helper (SSH) for day shift, for our specialized unit for residents with dementia.

We are looking for an SSA and an SSH for day shift who want to work in our house specialized for residents with dementia.

The position

37 hours per week – or hours by your own wish

Day shift

Weekend shifts every 2nd weekend in odd weeks, where you work in rotation 2–3

House with 10 residents

About the job – with a particular focus on dementia

You will become part of a house with 10 residents with moderate to severe dementia. We work from the living-ship model and person-centered dementia care, where the relationship is the foundation for all care and support.

In day shift you have a central role in creating calm, structure and security.

Your tasks will include

Build and maintain close relationships through recognizable routines and an individually tailored approach

Support residents in personal care with respect for their pace, habits and boundaries

Read nonverbal communication and respond professionally to changes in behavior, well-being and functional level

Prevent and manage restlessness, anxiety and outwardly directed behavior with pedagogical and environmental-therapeutic methods

Create a safe transition between day and night through fixed evening routines, meals and calm activities

Support residents’ resources and independence – even when the disease limits them

Work purposefully with nutrition, where the meal is used actively as an educational and relational tool. We have a central kitchen.

Document observations and contribute to professional reflections

Collaborate closely with colleagues, district nurses and relatives regarding the individual resident’s life story, needs and wishes

As SSA or SSH you will have the opportunity to use and develop your professional skills within the dementia field with a focus on holistic care, relational work and quality of life.

Professionalism and structure in everyday life

Hold resident conferences where we systematically discuss well-being, behavior, development and pedagogical initiatives

Work with common professional methods and documentation so that the efforts around each resident are cohesive and clear

Have the possibility for supervision and debriefing, especially in relation to complex and emotionally demanding situations

Offer a structured and thorough introduction program so that new colleagues feel safe in both tasks, professional approach and collaboration

We have at the nursing home a colleague who is trained as an instructor in Gentle Self-Defense, who regularly conducts teaching and training. Our approach is prevention and therefore it is expected that all employees participate in this competence development at least every 6 months.

About us

Plejehjemmet Ammershøjparken is a nursing home with 7 houses, organized according to the living-ship principles. Daily life is arranged around the residents, and they have the opportunity to participate actively in daily tasks.

We are about 80 staff members – mainly SSA and SSH – as well as four district nurses. There is close collaboration across professional groups, and the management is approachable and supportive in daily life.

We collaborate with volunteers to create more activities, community and joy of life, and we invite relatives to feel at home and participate in daily life. We are proud of our high professionalism and the high satisfaction among both residents and relatives.
