About the job

Would you like to work with analyses, complex issues and support strategic planning in a political organization that is in a period of historic growth and great public attention?

We are looking for an analytically strong generalist with good communication skills who can translate complex information into solid decision bases and easily readable reporting.

About us

The Home Guard Command's Finance Department consists of 12 employees anchored in two teams as well as departmental management. The department is responsible for the overall financial management and control of the Home Guard. We must ensure that we get the most value for the money and create the best framework for the Home Guard's approximately 45,000 volunteers. We are also right in the engine room when planning and implementing historic growth.

In the Home Guard Command's Finance Department, which is based in Vordingborg on South Zealand, we focus on exploiting and communicating complex information about finances and governance to the management, so the information is used actively and timely. We have a high level of ambition and a close collaboration with the Ministry of Defence's department, the Defence and Home Guard authorities across Denmark.

Our everyday life is characterized by an engaging work environment, good mood and often high activity. We value an open and informal communication style, which focuses on holistic views, professionalism and collegial helpfulness. We always strive to deliver our best, both as individuals and as a team. We have an exciting, diverse and sometimes busy daily life, where we take pride in lifting our responsibilities and tasks on time and with high quality.

About the position

As an analytically strong generalist you will become a central part of the finance function, where you will work at the intersection of analysis, development, operations and governance. You will have a daily life with high complexity, great influence and close involvement in the processes that ensure that the Home Guard's volunteers can deliver almost three million hours annually to support the Armed Forces and society.

Your primary tasks will be centered around contributing to development and secure governance of the Home Guard. This can be through the preparation of strategic analyses and decision papers or overall consumption follow-up and coordination of management audits.

Regardless of your concrete tasks, a central part of the role is that you can communicate governance-relevant matters to the Home Guard's top management and the Ministry of Defence's department. This involves being able to translate complex knowledge into an overview and visually appealing form, so the valuable work you and your colleagues perform can be given the appropriate weight in strategic decisions about, for example, the Home Guard's growth and development. You also have a good numerical understanding that you can apply in fulfilling the position.

About you

You have a relevant education that gives you a solid professional foundation. It could be cand.scient.pol, cand.oecon, cand.merc.aud, or another social science or economic education with a strong analytical foundation. The essential is that you have the professional competencies and communication abilities to solve the task.

You quickly create an overview, and can work structurally and focused with complex problems. You are both professionally and personally a team player who sees value in being part of a professional community and joining a cohesive department. You manage to place your concrete tasks in a larger context, and understand the importance of your task solving contributing to decisions of far-reaching character. You also thrive in a political organization where quality on time is a central benchmark. Your work is also characterized by meticulousness and efficiency.

Employment terms

You are employed in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).

Depending on your qualifications and competencies the position can be filled as an administrative officer or as a senior consultant, just as there is an opportunity for negotiation of allowances. There is an employer-funded pension scheme attached to the position.

The workplace is in Vordingborg, but a number of days per month may be in Copenhagen.

As an employee under the Ministry of Defence's area you are subject to some special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment period.

You as an employee are obliged to perform service outside the country’s borders, including at units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacemaking, humanitarian and other similar operations.

Contact and application

If you want to hear more about the position, you are welcome to contact Deputy Head Mads Roden at phone 6187 1632.

If you have questions about salary and employment conditions you are welcome to contact the Personnel Command, HR consultant Madeleine Moltke Kæmsgaard at phone 4031 1094.

The application deadline is 23 November 2026, but interviews will be held on an ongoing basis, and the position is to be filled as soon as possible.

You apply for the position via the link and we ask you to attach your application, CV and a copy of your education certificate with transcript. Please note that attachments must be added in PDF format.

In the Danish Defence Organization we believe that diversity optimizes task-solving. Therefore we encourage all interested regardless of background to apply for the position.
