Are you passionate about acute psychiatry and working with intensive treatment courses? Then Psychiatric Center Amager is looking for you as head of department (senior physician).

Welcome inside at B2 B2 has 15 intensive beds as an independent ward with a subspecialty for patients with psychotic disorders over 35 years old. The ward works closely with a total of four wards in our “psychosis pillar”; an open ward with the same target group – and a corresponding chain of intensive/open ward with patients aged 18-35 years with psychotic disorders. We help each other as doctors/specialist psychologists across the pillar in case of absence and need for sparring.

The ward has a close collaboration with the center's outpatient units and especially the housing/sHelter team and FACT with subspecialty in the same target group on two separate outpatient sites. We place emphasis on the involvement and respect for our different professional backgrounds, as well as maintaining an ambitious, but safe and humorous working environment. We want a safe culture, supported by Safewards, milieu therapy, a good working environment and staff well-being. We always do our best to ensure our patients a good and continuous treatment course.

The position is to be filled as chief physician with ward leadership . There is an opportunity for sparring and mentoring with the three other consultants in the psychosis pillar.

What tasks will you have? Your clinical tasks

• Welcoming new patients in collaboration with YL
• Carry out focused assessment, treatment and possibly referral to other treatment options
• Supervision of YL’s rounds in the ward and on rotation in the psychosis pillar in the absence of a specialist
• Provide psychoeducation and teaching to staff, patients and relatives
• Close collaboration with the outpatient clinics in FACT and Botilbudsteam
• Close collaboration with municipal actors with the ward’s fixed social worker – especially in relation to our affiliated housing facilities

As ward leader we expect you to engage in

• Management meetings with all ward leaders in the 24-hour ward – three per month
• Dialogue meetings with center management together with the head nurse
• Four annual leadership days across the center
• Collaboration on development in the ward with the head nurse

About us The ward has a well-functioning and experienced staff group, which in addition to the consultant consists of doctors in training, senior nurse, nurses, social and health assistants, pedagogues, social worker and medical secretary. There is good collaboration across the house, both between wards and within the medical group.

Salary and employment terms The position is 37 hours per week with start 1/3-2027 or as soon as possible. The position includes shift duty. You will participate either in a 24-hour on-call or Specialist Doctor on Front (SIF) with an expected 2-3 shifts from 15:30-20:00 monthly and a weekend every other month.

You will be employed under the agreement for senior physicians, including the agreement’s provisions on working hours (As a senior physician in the Region Hovedstadens Psychiatry you are on-call).

The region is a 24/7 area, and you will, according to concrete need, be planned with shifts at other times in accordance with the rules in the applicable working time agreement/working hours rules in the collective agreement.

About Psychiatric Center Amager

Psychiatric Center Amager is part of Amager and Hvidovre hospital. The center has a catchment area that, except for Christianshavn, covers all of Amager and Vesterbro including Sydhavnen. The population is around 260,000 people with expectations of further growth. The center has 9 24-hour wards with a total of 129 beds distributed across five intensive and four open, subspecialized wards. Outpatient treatment is provided in two psychiatric outpatient clinics at Hans Bogbinders Allé and Gl.

Kongevej and in the Psychotherapeutic and Geriatric Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic, located at Digevej. In addition, we have a Street-Level Team, OPUS Outpatient Clinic and a housing team.

Psychiatric Center Amager is a university hospital with education and teaching activity and a Research Unit. The center is classified for medical education in all positions including KBU (clinical basic training), specialist training in general medicine, and for introductory and main residency positions in psychiatry and for the training of clinical psychologists. The center handles student teaching of medical students in their 10th semester at the University of Copenhagen.
