Become my new helper – a job with meaning, humor and plenty of freedom - Viborg

"HANDICAP ASSISTANT WANTED - part-time - Job start as soon as possible or October 15. A job with great freedom and flexibility - perfect for creatives or students. As an assistant you will have a lot of free time and there are regular breaks during your workday where you can read books, write music, play computer or something else entirely. The position is on 6-10 (18-30 hours per week) shifts per month of 12-hour shifts. Primarily day shifts, but it can be adjusted.

My name is Frederik and I am a 33-year-old man, born with muscular dystrophy (type: DMD). I have used a ventilator since 2013 and sit in an electric wheelchair. I am fairly active in my daily life with political work, family and much else. I love all forms of nerdiness and spend a lot of time on music, food and games. I live on a farm with a dog, chickens, cows and a horse in Pederstrup 10 km northeast of Viborg.

As my helper you should be nice and down-to-earth, flexible as well as responsible and have a good sense of humor. You will function as my arms and legs and help me with everything practical I cannot do myself - ranging from personal care and care around the ventilator to ordinary tasks such as cooking, cleaning and driving my car - a driver's license is therefore a necessity. Since I use a ventilator around the clock, you must be awake on shifts. The ventilator part is not rocket science and you will receive thorough training from my other helper employees. Experience is therefore not necessary.

As a helper you will come close to me and my daily life, also on good and bad days. In collaboration to make my everyday life function, clear communication, honesty and constructive criticism are important. In addition, the job mostly entails a lot of time in each other's company - the most important is therefore good chemistry and communication. You become a kind of "professional friends" - I naturally have my own friends and you must be able to step back and entertain yourself, but it is equally important that we can have fun and cozy when we need to spend a lot of time together.

Working hours, training and info: Awake 12-hour shifts, day shifts (07-19) and night shifts (19-07), as well as weekend work. There will be 4-6 training shifts (paid) in using the ventilator with other helpers and a course at Respirationscenter Vest. Pay according to grade 13 and ventilator allowance. Employment is with LOBPA, which is the employer under the handicapped helper collective agreement. A criminal record check and a children's record will be obtained. Training and start date as soon as possible.

For the sake of clarity: The application deadline is as soon as possible, before October 10, 2026. Job start as soon as possible. Training starts by agreement as soon as possible, and own shifts from November 7.
