About the job

We are creating a new, central function to strengthen the municipality of Brøndby's overall emergency response. You will have a central role in the development and operation of the municipality's total emergency preparedness – both strategically and operationally. The role is both coordinating and driving: you pull the strings, motivate and advise professional areas and help translate plans into practice.

You take control of processes, create structure and coherence across the organization and ensure direction in close collaboration with the management, professional areas and external authorities. The position is newly established, so you have a good opportunity to influence and develop it.

Organisationally you will be placed in the Secretariat for Political Servicing in the Department for Policy and Organisation, but you will work closely with management and staff across all of the municipality's departments and units. The tasks are also currently handled in the Department for Policy and Organisation, where work is being carried out on 3-shift emergency preparedness and updating the Plan for continued operation – tasks you will follow up on.

Your primary tasks will be to

  • Drive and coordinate emergency preparedness work across departments, sections, institutions and external actors such as other authorities, civil society and business life.
  • Act as the anchor for our Emergency Forum, which consists of managers and staff from relevant professional areas.
  • Assist in planning, facilitating and evaluating emergency exercises for the crisis management team, administrations and departments and ensure knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Prepare case materials, management briefs and political decision briefs.
  • Prepare the 'Plan for Continued Operation', sub-plans and action plans.
  • Support administrations' work with risk and vulnerability analyses and the development, implementation and maintenance of emergency plans, action cards, procedures etc.
  • Be part of the engine room during incidents where the crisis management team is activated, and facilitate learning and evaluation processes after incidents.

We expect that you

  • Have a relevant education and/or experience in emergency planning. This could be a professional bachelor's degree as disaster and risk manager or experience from a similar position in e.g. a municipality, emergency service or police.
  • Have experience with project management, coordination, advisory services and implementation of cross-cutting initiatives – preferably from a municipality or another public organization.
  • Are collaborative and good at building relationships across the organization and external actors and thrive as a liaison between management, professional areas and practical operational units.
  • Possess subject expertise and knowledge in the emergency preparedness field.
  • Work in a structured and methodical way and with regard to rules and documentation in the public sector.
  • Can make complex emergency plans simple and applicable in practice – and write clearly and precisely.
  • Can prioritise, follow up tasks to completion and keep an overview.
  • Contribute with collaboration, professionalism and good collegial relationships.

About us

You will become part of the Secretariat for Policy and Organisation – the municipality's central staff – with about 40 employees and based in the Secretariat for Political Servicing.

The Secretariat for Policy and Organisation works with supporting the top management and with HR, payroll, political servicing, legal advisory, communication and organizational development.

We prioritise well-being, collaboration and a strong professional environment. We help each other, share knowledge and take joint responsibility for the tasks. The level of ambition is high, the tone is informal, and there is room for both professionalism and humor.

We offer

  • A position with a high degree of independence and an opportunity to influence tasks and solutions
  • An exciting and meaningful everyday life close to both top management, the political system and operations.
  • A working environment characterized by professionalism, humor and collaboration.
  • Competent, fun and sharp colleagues.
  • Flexible planning of work and the possibility of home office.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is full-time with a weekly working time of 37 hours. Your workplace will be at Brøndby Town Hall. Start 1 January 2027. Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and qualifications.
