Become a pedagogical assistant trainee with pay from day one.

Skive Municipality offers a cohesive training program for a pedagogical assistant, where you receive apprentice wages already from Foundation Course 2. This means you can take the first steps toward a meaningful career with financial security from the start.

Are you 25 years or older, and dream of switching to a profession where relationships, development and people are central? Do you have energy, curiosity and a desire to make a difference in others’ daily lives – whether they are children, youth or adults? Then it might be you we are looking for.

A training with meaning and opportunities

As a pedagogical assistant you will become an important part of the daily life of children, young people or adults. You help people develop, build relationships and experience community through play, learning, activities and care.

No two days are the same, and you will have the opportunity to work with people in different life situations and across many exciting subject areas.

Your training program

You start in Foundation Course 2 on 15 January 2027 and continue directly into the main course after completing the foundation course.

• Foundation Course 2: 15 January – 20 June 2027
• 19 school weeks plus one internship week
• PAU main course : starts 21 June 2027-2029
• 4 school periods
• 3 apprenticing periods
• Wage during the entire training
• Education agreement with Skive Municipality, which is your employer throughout the training

Training in practice

In the main course you gain experience from different workplaces, for example

• Nursery or kindergarten
• Home care
• After-school program (SFO) or school
• Day and night care for adults within the special-social field
• Residential care for adults with disabilities

Here you get the opportunity to test the theory in practice and develop your professional and personal skills in collaboration with experienced colleagues.

• can collaborate with others and contribute positively to the community
• are open to working with both children, young people and adults, including citizens with special needs
• are creative and want a everyday life where no two days are the same

After the training

A training as a pedagogical assistant gives you many options. You can, among other things

• Work in day care, school or special needs settings
• Specialize in different pedagogical areas
• Further educate yourself to become a pedagogue or teacher
• Become a mentor for future students

Admission requirements

To be admitted you must meet the admission requirements for Foundation Course 2 pedagogical assistant .

It is also a requirement that the foundation course is completed and passed in order to continue to the main course.
