About the job
The Psychiatry Department at Horsens Regional Hospital is evolving. We are expanding the departmental leadership to a three‑legged leadership team and are seeking an experienced and relationship‑oriented leader who wants to lead the further development of the department. Can you combine a strong clinical foundation with clear leadership, strategic outlook and a desire to work relationally? Then you may be the new head of Psychiatry, Horsens Regional Hospital.
About the position
The departmental leadership consists of a Chief Nurse, a Chief Physician and the new head position. With the role, we want to strengthen the leadership with a third healthcare professional profile, e.g., a psychologist or therapist.
With the expansion, we will have an even closer leadership presence in daily work, stronger clinical backing and a shorter path to decisions. Together, the departmental leadership shall work purposefully to create coherence, solidarity and sustainable solutions in a complex everyday life.
As part of the departmental leadership, you will have the opportunity to actively influence both professional development, organizational cohesion and strategic initiatives. The position entails close collaboration in an equal leadership community, where shared responsibility, sparring and different professional perspectives are a strength. We see leadership as a holistic task, where direction, relationships and operations go hand in hand.
Together with our Chief Physician and Chief Nurse, your task is to lead the more or less 313 employees and ensure quality in patient care and operations – in close collaboration with your functional leaders.
As part of the departmental leadership, you are central actors in the development of psychiatry locally and in the implementation of regional and national strategies, including integration between psychiatry and somatics and creating a robust and attractive psychiatry with a strong focus on involving patients and relatives.
We offer you an exciting job at a hospital that largely builds on constructive dialogue; where we are good at seeing opportunities and use less energy on limitations. In addition, we offer:
- a headship with the possibility to shape the future psychiatric department in Horsens
- thorough onboarding to the position
- a well-functioning chief group focusing on collaboration and regular leadership sparring
- mentorship for new leaders
- opportunity for personal leadership development/leadership education
- an interesting leadership role in a culture where people help each other – not only within the department but across the entire hospital.
Our expectations for you as our new chief with a health professional background
- you have a health-professional education (e.g., psychologist, therapist or another health professional background, but not a physician or nurse)
- you are respected by the staff and can handle difficult situations calmly, including leading and acting in uncertain situations
- you have an engaging and dialog-based leadership style and can set goals and solve problems in dynamic interaction with others
- you have an awareness of the importance of openness and transparency in decision-making processes
- you are goal-oriented and persistent, have impact, can create followership and sustain decisions in a constructive way
- you have the ability to implement successfully, ensure follow-up and be visible to staff
- you are willing and able to collaborate with the department’s functional leaders, the hospital’s other departments and external partners
We emphasize that you are capable of involving the functional leadership in the collaboration to develop a sustainable and trustworthy organization of the department with a focus on patient safety and staff well-being.
Additionally, you as our new chief with a health professional background
- collaborate across sectors and regional specialties and translate political goals and policies into actions within the budgeted frameworks
- be part of a close and trust-based three-legged leadership with shared responsibility for economy, safety and operations
- support the work with UBR, prevention of coercion and focus on safe environments
- contribute to strengthening psychiatry’s position in the total acute hospital through increased coordination, dialogue and professional integration
- support greater coherence between psychiatry and somatics through increased equality, joint solutions and coordinated patient pathways
- be curious and see value in multidisciplinary perspectives
- be visionary, inspiring and demonstrate organizational and strategic acumen
- create frameworks, routines and stability in a changing world
- contribute to a positive workplace culture and a good psychosocial work environment, prioritize psychological safety highly – for both patients and staff
- be clear and define explicit demands and expectations for others
- ensure high professional quality, coherence and development in patient treatment
About Psychiatry
In Psychiatry in Horsens, we diagnose and treat patients with all forms of psychiatric disorders. We are organized into three clinics, while our three inpatient wards treat all psychiatric diagnoses.
The Psychiatric Department in Horsens is part of Horsens Regional Hospital with satellites in Skanderborg and Odder. The department provides regional adult psychiatric treatment for residents in the municipalities of Horsens, Skanderborg, Hedensted and Odder – a total of about 223,000 inhabitants.
About Horsens Regional Hospital
Horsens Regional Hospital is one of the smaller hospitals in the Central Region of Denmark, and we see this as one of our biggest strengths. We are there for patients day and night, but we are good at sharing, even about shifts. With our hospital size, we have proximity and a sense of community that larger workplaces may struggle to match. This makes daily collaboration smoother because we know each other and know that we have each other’s backs. Both when we succeed and when we occasionally make a mistake. Then we learn from it together.
Our vision is 'Horsens Regional Hospital as an attractive workplace, education and treatment site as well as a partner in collaboration' with a focus on both staff and patients. You will meet almost 2,300 colleagues at the hospital. Across departments and specialties we meet each other as people while we each have our own professional profile. This also applies when we welcome new colleagues.
In 2024 we took the first steps to become a ’Choose Wisely’ Ambassador, where we work across professions to identify and avoid unnecessary investigations and treatments for the benefit of patients and the health care system’s overall resource use.
