About the job

Do you want to lead a dedicated team of staff and help set the direction for elderly psychiatric nursing?

Are you eager to combine hands-on management with strong professional leadership – and are you passionate about creating good and cohesive patient journeys for elderly people with mental illness?

Then you might be the person we are looking for as our new Chief Nursing Officer (Oversygeplejerske) at the Elderly Psychiatric Ward D4 at the Psychiatric Center Glostrup.

Welcome to D4

Ward D4 is an intensive unit with room for 13 patients. Here we work with geriatric psychiatry over 70 years, who have various psychiatric illnesses. We may also have younger patients with dementia in the ward.

In daily operations we handle an exciting and complex combination of psychiatric, somatic and social issues, which we take pride in solving in collaboration with the patient and the relatives, and in close cooperation with the primary sector.

We have a strong focus on ensuring that the patient and the relatives experience a safe, respectful and cohesive treatment journey. We work recovery-oriented and with attention to the individual patient’s resources, wishes and needs.

You will become part of an interdisciplinary environment where nurses, social and health care assistants, social worker, psychologist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist and doctors work closely together on the patients’ treatment and care. We also have a very close collaboration with our colleagues in the ambulatory elderly psychiatric team on the campus.

As Chief Nurse, you will be a central part of the ward’s leadership and development. You will work closely with the ward's chief physician and with your other leadership colleagues at the Psychiatric Center Glostrup.

Your role as Chief Nurse

Your most important task as Chief Nurse on D4 will be to create frameworks where staff can succeed with the core task and at the same time develop professionally and personally.

You should be a clear and present leader who can set direction, create followers and be close to daily operations.

We expect that you

  • take care of professional leadership, staff management, operations management and strategic leadership with a view to the overall management task
  • ensure high quality and continuity in patient treatment
  • support the development of elderly psychiatric nursing
  • create good frameworks for professional reflection, sparring and competence development
  • systematically work with work environment, well-being and psychological safety
  • support a strong and constructive interdisciplinary collaboration
  • have a view for the patients’ and the relatives’ perspectives
  • ensure that staff competencies are developed and used as well as possible
  • work structurally with quality, data and implementation of new initiatives
  • actively contribute to the development of elderly psychiatry across psychiatry and somatics

We also place emphasis on staff involvement and on creating a culture where responsibility and tasks can be delegated, and where staff professionalism is utilized.

Who are you as a leader?

We are seeking a Chief Nurse who is curious, inclusive and clear, and who can create direction without losing closeness to the staff.

You are a nurse with management experience, preferably from psychiatry or the hospital sector.

We would like you to have

  • a strong nursing professional identity and interest in elderly psychiatry
  • experience with staff management and preferably leadership in psychiatry
  • clear, respectful and appreciative communication – both spoken and written
  • ability to create overview and make decisions in a complex daily life
  • skill in building relations and collaboration across professional groups and sectors
  • courage to lead when new workflows need to be developed and implemented
  • awareness of staff diversity as a strength
  • focus on both operations, professionalism, work environment and development
  • curiosity for new knowledge and desire to continuously develop elderly psychiatric practice

What do we offer you?

As Chief Nurse on D4 you will become part of an organization where there is an opportunity to influence both daily operations and long-term development.

You will receive

  • a challenging and meaningful leadership position within a complex and important specialty
  • dedicated staff with high professionalism and a desire to develop practice
  • close collaboration with the ward’s chief physician and the center’s other leaders
  • opportunity for leadership coaching and professional sparring
  • opportunity for courses and continuing education in leadership
  • a individually tailored onboarding process based on your experience and needs
  • opportunity to help develop psychiatric nursing across the center
  • a workplace where professionalism, reflection, curiosity and knowledge sharing are prioritized

We believe that good leadership is created in the relationship with the staff. Therefore you will not only have responsibility for D4 – you will also have a strong leadership community around you.

Would you like to help develop elderly psychiatry?

Elderly psychiatry is an area in development, and we have an important task to ensure high quality, coherence and dignity in the treatment of our elderly patients.

We therefore seek a Chief Nurse who is eager to lead together with the staff and help create a ward where patients and relatives experience quality and safety, and where staff experience professional pride, development and job satisfaction.

If you can see yourself in this, we look forward to hearing from you.
