About the job

We are looking for a chief physician to lead our elderly psychiatry pillar (elderly psychiatric ward and elderly psychiatric outpatient clinic). Do you want to be part of a modern psychiatry organization that aims for high professional quality and coherent patient pathways – then read on.

In the district psychiatry for the elderly, we assess and treat citizens aged 70 and over with newly arisen mental illnesses. In addition, we receive people of all ages who have both a dementia condition and psychiatric problems. We receive patients from the municipalities of Odsherred, Holbæk, Kalundborg, Slagelse, Sorø and Ringsted.

You will be part of a well-functioning F-act team consisting of nurses, secretaries, social workers and a psychologist. We also have an elderly psychiatric ward, and there is good and close collaboration with the ward and outpatient clinic in the elderly pillar.

We emphasise a culture characterized by dialogue and respect. Our elderly pillar is marked by a strong sense of community, solidarity and multidisciplinary collaboration in solving tasks. The team is highly motivated to develop and improve patient pathways and ensure that patients feel that they are helped and supported, also by involving multidisciplinary resources. The group is characterized by a high degree of mutual respect across professional groups.

We work on the development of recovery-oriented psychiatry with user involvement at all levels and coherence in all patient pathways. A psychiatry where patients want to receive treatment, and staff want to work.

You prioritise dialogue and collaboration with patients and relatives and you will have a workplace with engaged colleagues, good opportunities to influence your own tasks and ample opportunity to influence the team’s work with good ideas. You focus on a good working environment with presence and job satisfaction.

We are seeking a specialist physician with broad clinical experience and interest in gerontopsychiatry.

As chief physician you will have medical responsibility for the treatment of patients in the elderly pillar. The work includes outpatient consultations, home visits and visits to care homes, as well as close collaboration with municipalities, general practice and other hospital departments.

The patient group is characterized by complex psychiatric disorders combined with significant somatic comorbidity, which is why experience with diagnostics and treatment in the interface between psychiatry and somatics is highly valued.

We are seeking a specialist physician with strong competencies in clinical decision-making, coordination of complex patient pathways, as well as multidisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration.

We place great importance on your ability to thrive with independent responsibility, good collaboration skills and motivation to create coherent patient pathways across sectors. You will join an experienced multidisciplinary environment with opportunities for ongoing professional sparring with the department’s physicians specialized in psychiatry.

You will lead our elderly pillar in collaboration with two head nurses, and the leadership approach is characterised by dialogue, trust and a focus on psychological safety.

You will become part of Psychiatry West under Mid- and West Zealand Hospital

An organization in development with approximately 520 employees. In the West there are main functions for adults over 17 years within acute reception, and inpatient, and outpatient functions. Psychiatry West also has special functions for treatment of affective disorders, traumatized refugees, PTSD and oligophrenia. We have a Fusion Clinic/Steno diabetes-psychiatry unit and work especially closely with Holbæk and Slagelse hospitals.

Psychiatry West has its own research unit with a professor in clinical pharmacology and several PhD students. In addition, we participate in numerous projects that aim to ensure closer collaboration with our municipalities and police. We work purposefully to reduce the use of coercion, and here collaboration with somatics is also important. Our wish is a psychiatry focused on recovery, involvement of patients and networks, high professional standards, ethics and education.

In addition, the goal is to create the best possible learning environments for our various training programs for doctors, nurses, social and health care assistants, etc., and to ensure a healthy and safe working environment for patients and staff.
