At the ward, currently patients are admitted for phase II rehabilitation, primarily stroke patients. In the outpatient clinic, patients are seen for preliminary examinations and there are specialty clinics for, among others, multiple sclerosis, headaches, Parkinson's and epilepsy. In the outpatient clinic there is a Memory Clinic, which is a multidisciplinary clinic with specialists from neurology, geriatrics and psychiatry and where the department's neuropsychologists also participate.

Neurology, Central and West Zealand Hospital – Næstved here has the Center for Neurorehabilitation (CNN), a regional function for rehabilitation of adult patients with sequelae after brain injury and after Guillain-Barré Syndrome (AIDP).

In addition, the department from January 1 will have responsibility for 2 centers with specialized rehabilitation in Faxe and Nykøbing F. Functions that are taken over from the municipalities as part of the Health Reform.

About the department

Neurology is part of Medicine 3 and the Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. The department consists of both the neurological and geriatric specialties. Specialists in neurology cover the on-call shift until 21:00, and thereafter are available on-call from home. There is a duty to cover, and there is in-hospital on-call around the clock.

In connection with the development of the acute neurological function, attendance and shift work will be adapted to the new tasks.
