About the job
Would you like to combine clinical research with specialized hematology nursing and have a PhD or ambitions for a PhD programme?
We offer a position where your research will be highly prioritized and where your connection to clinical practice primarily concerns research-related tasks, e.g., leading implementation efforts and developing clinical practice within the research field. Whether you have a PhD or a candidate or master degree and dream of starting a PhD programme, you will find optimal conditions with us.
Blood Diseases aims to be one of the leading actors in interdisciplinary, clinically oriented health science research and wishes to further develop the nursing research foundation that is already established in the department.
The position is 37 hours per week with start on February 1, 2027 or as agreed.
Your main tasks
One of your key tasks will be to develop a strong nursing-science research culture and a research environment in Blood Diseases, where the objective is for nurses to conduct research on problems arising from clinical practice. This task and other development-related projects are carried out in close collaboration with the development manager – and the education manager nurse, key figures in nursing, the nursing leadership, and the department's clinical professor of practice.
In the position as Clinical Nursing Specialist we will support your career path with the aim of you becoming qualified to lead research programmes and to be the primary supervisor for PhD students.
We offer an exciting position in which you
- will receive a well-structured introduction to the position in collaboration with the department's current clinical nursing specialist during the early period of employment. If you do not have experience with the hematology specialty, we will accommodate this in your induction program
- will be involved in our newly started research project, the COGNITOX study. You will, in time, take over responsibility for the project's conduct and dissemination of results. Based on the project's results you will, in collaboration with the research group, need to further develop and test an intervention aimed at the patient group. Read about the project here: Interdisciplinary research and development activities
- if you have an earned PhD, you will develop a research plan as part of qualifying for a part-time position (20%) as associate professor or professor at Health, Aarhus University
- if you are to undertake a PhD programme, you will develop the protocol under supervision
- join a positive and development-oriented work environment where new ideas are met with openness and curiosity. You have a unique opportunity to influence the direction of nursing in Blood Diseases
- act as an academic advisor to the department management
- develop and supervise health science staff regarding the use of academic competencies in the department
- become part of the National Interdisciplinary Hematology Research Network in Denmark (NIHR-DK) and the network for clinical specialists at AUH (mentorship possibility). Contributes to the active research environment at AUH, nationally and internationally.
Our expectations of you
- You are a trained nurse and have an earned PhD or a candidate-/master degree with readiness to join a PhD programme
- You have experience in – or strong interest in – the hematology or oncology specialty
- You work systematically, independently and analytically and have knowledge and skills in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
- You want to engage in cross-sector, national and international research collaborations
- You have experience leading development processes and implementation and are motivated to drive change in a dynamic clinical daily life
- You thrive on communicating knowledge at all levels
- You create good relationships and engage colleagues in professional development.
The patients and nursing
We diagnose and treat patients with all forms of complex and malignant blood diseases. The treatment is characterized by long patient pathways marked by high complexity and unpredictability. Nursing is characterized by close observations in acute situations combined with great variation in nursing-related problems, symptom relief and prevention of complications. Guiding and discussions with patients and relatives based on their changed life situation constitutes a significant part of nursing.
The long-term courses also involve planning and coordination with involvement of many parties. Finally, administration of the specialized medical cancer treatment is a large and central task.
The department is characterized by a high level of professional engagement and we place a high value on the social working environment.
