About the job

Parental leave substitute for Clinical Department Coordinating Nurse

Emergency Department and On-Call Doctor, Aalborg University Hospital

Do you have strong coordinating skills, a good clinical eye and do you thrive on creating overview in a daily life where no day is the same? Are you motivated by getting staffing, competencies and tasks to come together – while maintaining proximity to the clinic?

So perhaps you are the one we are looking for for a 12-month maternity leave position as clinical department coordinating nurse in the Emergency Department and the On-Call Doctor at Aalborg University Hospital.

About the position

As a clinical department coordinating nurse you will have a central role in the daily operation of the Emergency Department and the On-Call Doctor. You will be responsible for daily staffing coordination and shift planning and must ensure that employees' competencies and the department's resources are used in the best possible way with focus on core task, patient safety and quality.

The position is arranged as a 50/50 function, where you combine coordinating tasks with clinical work.

Your main tasks

Daily operation and staffing coordination

  • Ensure overview of staffing, competencies and capacity in the Emergency Department and the On-Call Doctor.
  • Coordinate and adjust the daily staffing in case of illness, absence and changed activity.
  • Allocate employees and functions based on competencies and the department's current needs.
  • Prepare and adapt allocation sheets and ensure relevant handover to the process coordinators.

Shift planning

  • Prepare, maintain and adapt shift schedules for both the Emergency Department and the On-Call Doctor.
  • Balance employees' wishes with competence needs, staffing norms, working-time rules, agreements and local accords.
  • Plan holidays, absence, courses and training activities and handle sickness and acute staffing challenges.
  • Handle changes, post-registrations and wage registration and approval in Optima.
  • Identify significant staffing challenges and cooperate with the lead chief nurses on solutions.

Professional sparring, development and education

  • Be an accessible and professionally well-founded sparring partner for colleagues in daily operation.
  • Support professional quality and compliance with applicable instructions and guidelines.
  • Contribute to development and implementation of workflows as well as onboarding of new employees.
  • Assist in coordinating educational tasks for students and course participants in cooperation with relevant tutors and functions.

You report to the leading Chief Nurses and work in close collaboration on daily operation and department priorities. In their absence you take on the substitute role as agreed within the appointed mandate.

Who are you?

We are looking for a nurse who has clinical experience and preferably an understanding of the function of the Emergency Department and On-Call Doctor, and who thrives on both coordination and clinical work.

We emphasize that you

  • Have experience with shift planning and knowledge of relevant working-time rules and local accords.
  • Can create overview, prioritize and make decisions in an ever-changing daily life.
  • Work in a structured and independent manner and can adapt resources to the department's needs.
  • Communicate clearly, respectfully and appreciatively and collaborate constructively across professional groups.
  • Can balance an organizational responsibility with the role of a present colleague and professional sparring partner.

We offer

  • A 12-month maternity leave substitute with a central and independent function.
  • A varied position with an even distribution between office and clinical work.
  • Close collaboration with the leading chief nurses and a broad contact interface in the department.
  • Opportunity to bring your clinical, organizational and coordinating skills into play.
  • A daily life where you actively contribute to patient safety, professional quality and a good working environment.
