About the job

Would you like a nursing job with a varied day, great autonomy in your patient pathways and close interprofessional collaboration?

We are expanding in Clinic 1, Psychiatry in Skejby, and therefore have the opportunity to hire another nurse in Team 4 – Team for patients with cognitive impairment.

With us you meet a patient group that calls for both psychiatric expertise, curiosity and the ability to adapt nursing to the individual person. The majority of your patient pathways will be with people with oligophrenia and concomitant psychiatric illness. Communication, treatment and the nursing interventions must be adapted to the individual patient's cognitive abilities and life situation, and relationship-building is an important part of the overall effort.

The work takes place close to the patient's daily life and often in collaboration with relatives, housing and other municipal and regional partners. It provides a varied workday and the opportunity to work holistic with both the patient's psychiatric illness and the surroundings that are important for the treatment to succeed.

You do not need to already have experience with oligophrenia. The most important is that you are curious about the patient group, have an interest in psychiatric nursing and want to develop your professional skills together with us.

Who are we?

Team for patients with cognitive impairment treats patients with oligophrenia and concomitant psychiatric illness from across the Central Denmark Region. The team also investigates and treats patients with organic mental illness and dementia.

The team consists of 4 chief physicians, 2 neuropsychologists, 1 special psychologist and 10 nurses. Two of the nurses work with starting from Gødstrup and cover the western part of the region. In addition, a social worker is attached.

We are a team where we support each other, and where we prioritise both professional sparring and a good physical and psychological work environment. As a nurse you work independently with your own patient pathways, but you do not stand alone with them. We use each other's professional skills, help each other across and share patient pathways when it makes sense.

Patient contact takes place both at the hospital, in the patients' own homes and at municipal and regional residential facilities. This means that the workdays can look different, and you get the opportunity to meet the patients in different contexts. We drive out in the region's cars, and a driving license is therefore a requirement. For shorter trips we also have electric bikes available.

We have a strong focus on safety in all our patient contacts and work systematically to create safe frames for both patients and staff.

What will you work with?

Your clinical work will primarily consist of direct patient contact and independent patient pathways.

Your tasks will include among others

  • supportive and guiding conversations
  • psychoeducation
  • follow-up on medical treatment
  • relapse prevention
  • collaboration with relatives
  • coordination and collaboration with municipal, regional and other partners.

You will have great independence in your patient pathways and a high degree of influence on the planning of your workday and your own calendar. At the same time you will be part of an interprofessional team with ongoing sparring about patient pathways.

Whom are we looking for?

We are primarily looking for a nurse who has an interest in psychiatry and is curious about our patient group. It is an advantage if you have experience from psychiatry, but this is not a prerequisite. We will ensure that you are introduced to the specialty and the tasks.

We envision that you

  • thrive with both independent work and close collaboration with others
  • can structure and coordinate your tasks and maintain overview in a varied everyday life
  • have good collaboration skills and can engage in cooperation with patients, relatives and other professionals
  • want to work interdisciplinary and cross-sectorally
  • can communicate well both orally and in writing
  • thrive with patient contact occurring both at the hospital and at the patients' homes
  • have a driving license

What can we offer you?

We would like to give you good frameworks for both getting started well in the job and developing professionally.

Therefore we offer

  • a mentorship arranged according to your needs
  • supervision and nursing professional guidance
  • good opportunities for competence development and further education
  • great influence on the planning of your workday and management of your own calendar
  • opportunity for flexibility and one home-working day per week after training ends, when tasks allow it
  • opportunity to influence and develop the nursing professional contribution in a multidisciplinary treatment environment
  • colleagues who prioritise professional sparring and help each other in daily life
