About the job

Would you like to help drive change processes – and document and investigate what works when we want to promote the play, learning and well-being of children and young people in nature?

Do you have strong competencies in evaluation, analysis and collaboration? And would you like to create overviews, gather knowledge and support learning across many actors? Then you may be our new colleague at the Center for Children and Nature.

About the Center for Children and Nature

The Center for Children and Nature is a national, mission-driven partnership with a vision of a world where all children and young people play, learn and thrive in nature.

Nature can contribute positively to children's physical and mental health, their learning and motor development. But it requires a broader joint focus on breaking down barriers in children's everyday life that stand in the way of them getting out into nature more. No actor can lift this task alone.

Therefore, 16 partners (research and knowledge institutions, foundations and associations) have joined forces in a strengthened Center for Children and Nature. You can read more about the center here: https://www.centerforboernognatur.dk/om-centret .

The partners are

  • Center for Clinical Research and Prevention, Region H
  • Danmarks Jægerforbund
  • Danmarks Nationalparker
  • Danmarks Naturfredningsforening
  • DGI
  • Friluftsrådet
  • Haver til Maver
  • Københavns Universitet (KU), Skovskolen, IGN
  • LIFE Fonden
  • Natur & Ungdom
  • Naturvejledning Danmark
  • Professionshøjskolen Absalon
  • Professionshøjskolen UCN
  • Syddansk Universitet (SDU), Active Living & Center for Grundskoleforskning
  • UCL Erhvervsakademi og Professionshøjskole
  • VIA University College

Our mission is to develop and implement knowledge, initiatives and frameworks that promote children's and young people's play, learning and well-being in nature – for the benefit of both the children and a healthy and sustainable future.

The center is financed through partnerships with foundations, as well as the partners themselves contributing to the financing.

Your role

The Center for Children and Nature consists, in addition to the 16 partners, of a small secretariat that supports the partners in carrying out the joint mission. We are now seeking a new colleague who will help realize the center's ambitions and support the partnership's many activities.

You will be part of a small team, where you work closely with the center director and a communications staff member and participate in the collaboration with our student assistants. You will get a unique opportunity to get close to the partner organizations' very different projects and talented staff. You will learn from their areas of expertise and contribute with your methodological and professional knowledge. And you will be a catalyst for collaboration and exchange of knowledge across the partnership.

A central part of your role will be to assist and advise the center's partners and working communities in the development and implementation of projects, including, in some cases, solving sub-tasks such as evaluations and data collection. You will also play a role in communicating knowledge and results – e.g. in the center's network and dissemination activities which shall, among other things, connect researchers, practitioners, organizations and decision-makers across sectors.

You will have a broad task portfolio, where project development, sparring with partners, coordination and executive support go hand in hand with analysis, evaluation, learning capture and dissemination of knowledge and results. You will contribute to moving the center's and the partners' activities and processes forward, and help ensure that we systematically collect and analyze knowledge about our work, become wiser about what works, and share the learning we gain.

We are therefore looking for a colleague who thrives on both creating overview and delving into data, analyses and professional issues.

Your tasks

Your tasks will include, among others, to

  • Support collaboration in the partnership: Contribute to coordinating and facilitating meetings, workshops and working communities and ensure follow-up on agreements and joint decisions.
  • Contribute to evaluation design and monitoring: Develop and qualify evaluation designs, relevant questions, indicators and methods that can help the partners, and ensure that we at the center level can monitor initiatives and understand their results.
  • Analyze data and create insights: Process and analyze relevant data and contribute to identifying patterns, trends and connections that can qualify the center's work and decisions.
  • Collect and structure knowledge and learning: Gather, systematize and summarize existing research, experiences and learning from projects and practice, so that the insights can be used across partners and the center's efforts.
  • Develop knowledge products and disseminate insights: Contribute to analyses, notes, presentations, reports and other written products that make knowledge usable for different target groups.
  • Support leadership and organizational development: Contribute to supporting the center's steering group, foundation applications and the ongoing development of the Center for Children and Nature as an organization and national partnership.

The tasks will evolve in line with the center's work, and you will have the opportunity to influence both the content and the way we solve them.

Your team

You will join a small secretariat with short decision paths, close collaboration and a broad task portfolio. We are a small organization in the making, where we do great things together. You should therefore thrive in a varied everyday life, where you drive your own professional tasks and help get the practical things to run. It could range from preparing materials for a workshop to ensuring that meetings and events are carried out well. For us, it is about shared responsibility, flexibility and the desire to make things succeed, together.

The Center for Children and Nature is physically located at Denmark's Nature Conservation Association (Danmarks Naturfredningsforening), which acts as the host organization for the center. We work across the country, so you should be prepared to use digital meeting formats and be willing to travel within Denmark. In return, you get great flexibility, the opportunity to shape your own work and good opportunities to influence the center's development.

Your profile

We imagine that you have a relevant academic education and experience with project development, evaluation, analysis or consultancy. Perhaps you have experience from a consultancy, a agency, a municipality, a research or knowledge organization, or another organization where you have worked across disciplines and interests.

It is important that you can create structure and progress in complex tasks and at the same time have the desire and ability to work analytically with knowledge, data and learning. It is also a clear advantage if you have professional insight into children and young people and/or nature and activities in nature.

We place particular emphasis on that you

  • Have experience with project management and can support partners, coordinate initiatives and systematically follow up on activities, processes, timelines and deliverables.
  • Have strong analytical skills and preferably experience with developing or qualifying evaluation design, monitoring and analysis of data.
  • Can collect, structure and analyze existing knowledge and experiences and translate them into central insights and usable learning.
  • Have strong written communication skills and can produce clear, precise and targeted knowledge products, analyses and presentations.
  • Work independently and proactively and take responsibility for driving tasks forward.
  • Have good relational skills and thrive in collaboration across organizations and disciplines.
  • Have experience with foundation applications or a desire to contribute to the development and description of projects for foundation funding.
  • Have an interest in digital analysis tools and in how AI can support work with data, analysis and knowledge collection in a professionally sound way.
  • Have professional insight into children and young people and/or nature and activities in nature.

You do not need to know everything from day one. We are interested in your overall experience, your analytical curiosity and your ability to translate knowledge into action.
