Create a safe environment and motivate a young man to participate in activities and movement

Do you have experience with autism and a desire to build a secure relationship in a 1:1 role? Then this could be a task for you.

About the assignment

You will provide support for a 24-year-old man who enjoys calm and predictable activities such as building LEGO, listening to music, watching films and using an iPad. He is a calm and creative person who wants to be in contact with others when the relationship feels safe.

The man is diagnosed with infantile autism, epilepsy and moderate developmental disability. He has a developmental level corresponding to that of a younger child and needs clear structure and recognizable boundaries. He has limited verbal speech and communicates with short sentences and repetitions, and may need support to express his needs.

The assignment starts at home, where you get to know him through activities he is comfortable with. Here your main focus is to build a relationship at his pace. When he has become comfortable with you, you can gradually begin to move out on small outings, e.g. walks. Outside, he requires close support as he is not traffic-safe and needs you to guide him calmly and clearly in all situations.

There is light personal care, as he needs support in connection with toilet visits.

About you

You are a trained pedagogue or unskilled and have experience with autism and/or developmental disability. You work calmly and can establish clear, caring boundaries.

Working hours

You work 4 hours every other weekend from 12:00–16:00. The shift can be placed on either Saturday or Sunday by arrangement with the family.
