Create active and safe moments for a girl with autism

If you have experience with autism, and you thrive in creating structure, presence and positive experiences in a 1:1 relationship, and you can communicate in English, then this maternity leave position could be for you.

About the task

We are seeking an employee with relevant experience for a girl with infantil autism and a significantly reduced functional level.

The girl enjoys music, the hammock, the playground and other activities where she can be physically active. She does not communicate with words, but understands English. She benefits from visual and bodily communication, including Tegn til Tale and pictograms, which support her ability to understand and express her needs.

She needs fixed frameworks, clear structure and predictability. At the same time, she needs breaks where she can withdraw and find calm through, for example, music, the hammock or other sensory-stimulating activities. You support her in transitions, help her regulate herself and adapt activities to her needs.

The assignment consists of creating safe and meaningful moments through play and activities, including on the playground, with music, singing and sensory activities. In addition you assist with toilet visits and light personal care. The purpose of the arrangement is to relieve the family and create good, predictable frameworks for the girl.

About you

You have relevant experience, preferably from working with children with autism. You work calmly and structurally and are good at creating security through clear communication and predictable frameworks.

You can be Danish- or English-speaking. The most important is that you can understand and speak English, as communication with the girl and the family takes place in English.

If you have knowledge of Tegn til Tale or other visual communication, it is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Working hours

The position is 12 hours per week.

The working hours are

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 17:00 to 20:00

You will become part of a family-owned company with many engaged employees. You have a fixed advisor whom you can always consult for sparring. Outside office hours there is always a staffed on-call phone, so you are never alone. Salary and pension in accordance with the National Agreement for disability helpers in citizens’ own homes (minus BPA) concluded between FOA and Dansk Erhverv. You are covered by DUOS’s liability and work accident insurance and health insurance is part of your pension scheme.
