About the job
Do you have a passion for processing, analyzing and communicating data? Are you business‑minded, proactive, and would you like to help develop and run data solutions that contribute to our fight against tax‑economic crime? Then you may be the data analyst we are looking for in Special Control.
Become part of Special Control in the Tax Administration
The Special Control section fights organized, systematic and complex tax‑economic crime and works concretely with a wide range of fraud types, including VAT and chain fraud, gang‑ and gang‑related tax‑economic crime and money laundering.
Our office, IT - development and Governance, is part of Control and Business Development, which currently counts about 100 employees distributed across five units. We have the overall responsibility to support the section’s internal processes as well as develop and implement strategic objectives for the area. The center is led by a deputy director and is one of three centers in the Special Control area.
In our office we are responsible for developing and implementing in‑house IT solutions, we have a secure handle on the area’s salaries and operating budgets, including expenses for the civil track of the dividend case, and we ensure the overall handling of the education and HR tasks in the area. Our office consists of 24 colleagues with different professional backgrounds and specialist areas, and we are all driven by our shared task of assisting the leadership in the area with timely, high‑quality products.
Support the development of IT‑ and data activities across Special Control
As a data analyst you will, in close collaboration with your colleagues, contribute to solving different task types; for this position, the following are particularly relevant:
- Operation and further development of our data pipeline and graph database, where SQL, Python and Cypher are primarily used to handle the task.
- Systematically monitor and oversee the system to ensure there are no errors in development tasks that are pushed to production.
- Contribute to the operation and further development of systems, user interfaces, querying models and contribute to improving data for integration of applications for internal use.
- Engage in close collaboration with caseworkers/end users to develop solutions that meet their specific needs.
Your primary task will be to operate, maintain and further develop our graph database and the related products that are part of the solution. As we are an organization with cross‑functional IT and data functions, there are many different data tasks in the office that you will also have the opportunity to contribute to.
Who are you?
We imagine that you have a relevant education, but your educational background is not decisive. The most important is that you as a person enjoy developing new methods and systems and at the same time ensure that developed models are operated securely.
You have good communication skills and can make your messages simple and understandable with regard to the recipient and the business needs. You are curious and enjoy engaging in dialogue with colleagues across the country to find the best solutions for the area and the Tax Administration.
In addition, we imagine that
- you have knowledge of and experience with:
- development, maintenance and operation of data‑driven web applications, including Streamlit.
- graph databases, including processing, maintenance and creation of graph data.
- processing and matching of large, complex data sets from diverse sources with the help of DBT and SQL.
- transformation of data for various purposes and great knowledge of data, which makes it motivating to work with and analyze large data sets using SAS, SQL, Python and Cypher.
- you have theoretical and practical experience with algorithms and data structures.
- you are capable of independently understanding and defining where and how data can best be used in the Agency, and how they can be incorporated in a given context.
- you are proactive, initiative‑driven, creative and provide input on how we can test new methods; it would be an advantage if you have knowledge of the data work in the Tax Administration.
As we are a developing organization, it is important that you are prepared to learn new things, as we continually receive new and different tasks, which we address with great dedication.
