About the job

Data analyst/data manager sought for the BIOSKIN research project

Are you passionate about advanced data analysis, statistics and research that can improve the treatment of patients with skin diseases?

We are seeking a data analyst/data manager with strong statistical and data-analytic skills for BIOSKIN, an ambitious research project in dermatology. The ideal candidate thrives on working with large and complex datasets and simultaneously has an interest in the clinical and biological issues behind the data.

About BIOSKIN

BIOSKIN is a multidisciplinary research program that combines clinical data, biological samples, patient-reported information and registry data to create new knowledge about inflammatory skin diseases, including atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis and psoriasis. The purpose is to improve diagnostics, prognosis and individualized treatment through analyses of biomarkers and clinical disease courses.

The program is a collaboration between the Department of Allergy, Dermatology and Venereology and the LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center (SIC) at Panum. The research group consists of clinicians, researchers and bioinformaticians as well as physicians, molecular biologists, bioanalysts, nurses and PhD students. As a data manager you will play a central role in handling complex longitudinal data in a strong translational research environment.

The position

As a data analyst/data manager in BIOSKIN, you will work with the structure and analysis of large and complex datasets based on clinical information, patient-reported data, biological samples and national registries.

Your main tasks will be to

  • Be responsible for the development of the project’s data platforms and data structure.
  • Plan and conduct statistical analyses for research projects within BIOSKIN.
  • Translate clinical and scientific questions into robust analyses and relevant results.
  • Develop and apply advanced statistical models as well as methods within artificial intelligence.
  • Collaborate closely with researchers and clinicians on study design, analysis plans and interpretation of results.
  • Contribute to scientific publications, research proposals and presentations.
  • Contribute to quality assurance.

Your profile

We envision that you have a background in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, bioinformatics, mathematics, data science or a related field.

It is advantageous if you have

  • Experience with analysis of large longitudinal datasets.
  • Strong skills in R, Python or similar programming languages.
  • Solid understanding of statistical methods and the ability to choose the most relevant models for different research questions.
  • Experience with registry data, biobank data, REDCap, biomarker data or omics data.
  • Experience working in a high-performance computing environment, e.g. NGC HPC or Computerome.
  • Ability to plan and conduct analyses independently.
  • Good collaboration skills and willingness to work in interdisciplinary research environments.
  • Good written and spoken English skills.

A PhD degree or equivalent research experience would be an advantage.

We offer

  • A central role in an innovative research project with great clinical relevance.
  • Opportunity to work with unique multidimensional data and advanced analytical techniques.
  • A strong interdisciplinary research environment with close collaboration between clinical, laboratory research and data science.
  • Opportunity for professional development, scientific productivity and participation in national and international research collaborations.
  • Flexible working conditions and an inspiring academic environment.

Employment

The position is 37 hours per week and to be filled as soon as possible or after further agreement. The employment is, as a rule, limited to 5 years with the possibility of extension.

Salary and employment terms follow the applicable collective agreement for academics employed in the region.
