About the job

The Danish Defence Intelligence Service (FE) is seeking analysts for the Russia analysis. The analysis area is central to FE’s analysis and reporting on Russia’s intentions and political objectives.

You will face challenges and have room to develop

As an analyst in the Russia analysis you will work with many different sources and data types to analyze and communicate Russia’s political intentions and objectives. You and your team will build FE’s knowledge base and convey the team’s assessments to FE’s clients and partners in close cooperation with other analysts who focus on Russia’s military strategy, military activities, and Russia’s intelligence services.

You must be motivated to deliver high-quality results in close collaboration with your colleagues across the organization in an area with growing demand. Thoroughness is fundamental in the analytical work and must be ensured alongside requirements for timeliness and clarity—even in a occasionally busy everyday life.

Your daily work consists of tasks with very short lead times and longer-term missions that are built and developed over several years. You will be part of various relevant cross-disciplinary forums, where you work closely with colleagues from the rest of the service and FE’s many different partners. You often have days where you learn something new, and you have ample opportunity to develop yourself both personally and professionally in the direction you and your manager set together.

Your tasks will include, among other things

  • Contribute to FE’s knowledge and analyses of either Russia’s intentions in the Arctic or the political significance of developments in the Russian economy.
  • Collect, process and report on matters of relevance to Denmark’s security.

You and your background are important

We expect that

  • You have a relevant academic or military education that gives you in-depth knowledge of Russia and Russian strategic thinking.
  • You thrive in a sometimes hectic daily life.
  • You are a strong communicator and particularly skilled in written presentation of complex topics in both Danish and English.
  • You are able to extract relevant details from large amounts of data and see broad connections across sometimes conflicting information.
  • It is an advantage, but not a requirement, that you have good Russian language skills.

We value the strength of our diversity, where deep professional knowledge and specialists contribute to a very special and operationally oriented knowledge organization. We have many different tasks, but common to them all is the knowledge base that our intelligence work creates. The nature of the tasks places high demands on your understanding of the value of collaboration, and we place equal importance on your professional and personal competencies.

If you dream of becoming part of this team and meet many—but not all—of the qualifications listed for the position, we encourage you to submit an application.

Your new workplace

The Danish Defence Intelligence Service (FE) is Denmark’s foreign intelligence service and works—secret and open—to protect Denmark and Danish interests in a changing world.

You will become part of a very special organization where we stand together to solve an important task.

Many of your future colleagues are passionate about making a difference, and we have a strong professional and social cohesion. Since we cannot talk much about our work with friends and family, a very special bond is created with your colleagues.

The position is based at our location in Dragør. For us it is not so easy to take work home, since we handle confidential information. In return, we offer a high degree of flexibility in planning your working hours, and when you’re not at work you have complete freedom.

We have a strong focus on social cohesion, supported by various events such as Friday bar and board game coffee. You also have the opportunity to join various professional forums that cross the organization. We also have a sports association where you can engage in various types of exercise with your colleagues.

As an employee of FE you are subject to certain special terms. You must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance throughout your employment. As in the rest of the Defence, you may be required to undertake short deployments abroad if the need arises.

You can read more about FE on our website www.fe-ddis.dk.

Your salary package depends on your qualifications

The position is open to both civilians and military personnel.

For military personnel, the position is intended for major/lieutenant-commander (M331) or captain/commander (M321).

You are a major/lieutenant-commander and have completed MMS, VUT II/L or another equivalent education. Alternatively you are an experienced captain/commander who is enrolled in or currently undertaking MMS. In that case there will be an opportunity to enter into a training agreement and you will, during the period up to any potential appointment to the position, perform the role in a higher position.

For civilians, salary and employment terms are according to the current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).

In addition you have the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on qualifications.

The average working time is 37 hours per week including a paid lunch break. The position includes a pension scheme, which FE pays for.

How to apply for the position

Please send your application, CV, educational certificates and other relevant documentation via the job posting, no later than 15 November 2026.

At FE we want to treat all applicants equally, so you may omit attaching a photo of yourself to your CV and application.

We expect that the initial employment interviews will take place in week 48 and we aim for a start date of 1 February 2027.

You are welcome to contact the local HR partner at [email protected] if you have questions about the position or would like more information.

An employment relationship in FE is treated confidentially, which you as an applicant should be aware of in the application process. This means that just as we do not tell anyone that you have applied for a position with us, please also refrain from sharing this with anyone.

We look forward to receiving your application.
